XLRI GMP - Interview for candidates in USA. - 12-09-2008, 07:33 AM

Hi,

The GMP application form doesn't list any US cities or telephonic interview as an option.

Does it mean that, if selected, someone would have to travel back to India for interview?

Can anyone throw some light?

Thanks.

Hi Ambahad, Prachi,thecrab200,cheetahcat & all the others who had queries about Application form,

1.Regarding interviews for international candidates:

There is no need to mention that you need telephonic interview in the application form. From your current address Admission cell will come to know that you are an international candidate. Incase you are shortlisted for the interview, you will recieve a mail from the XLRI office & that point of time, you can reply by asking for telephonic interview.

2.Regarding payment towards Application form for international candidates

Please go through http://www.xlri.edu/nri_foreign.php .....details of mode of payment is given(Refer to one year program). The DD should be payable at Jamshedpur.

3.Regarding Educational details

First block refers to any courses that you done during your professional tenure…such as any certification course, Six sigma, etc
Second block-Post graduate - though does not have any headings, information can be filled as per the headings mentioned in the Bachelors degree block

4.Regarding sending xerox copies of your certificates

Certificates need not be sent along with the application form

You may also directly contact he XLRI Admission cell
Ms Sangeeta Gupta
admis@xlri.ac.in
Phno-(0657) 398-3203/3204/3205

Incase you need any further details ,do write back

regards,

Re: XLRI GMP - Admissions and Beyond - 13-09-2008, 12:43 AM

Hi Saket,

Firstly, sorry abt the delayed reply......its been quite a hectic schedule during the last few days

Anyways, let me start off with giving you the facts....GMP has had no doctors in any of its batches so far. However doctors doing an MBA is not new to XLRI. Infact the present 2 year batch a quite a few number of doctors(ofcourse with less number of work exp than yours)

Btw,GMP has seen a lot a firsttimers..... we have a students from diverse & unique professional background. To mention a few,the current batch of GMP has a student who has previously worked in the Intelligence bureau, another from the Indian army & yet another who has taught zoology for over 10years & authored several books!!! So you will find several students who have very uncommon work exp as yours

Regarding the placements, XLRI has enough brand value that any company from the health sector can be invited for recruitment

As this program is for professionals with more than 5yrs exp, stress more on your achievements or projects during your work in the professional exp block of the application form. The admission cell does expect a resume along with the application form

I hope I have been able to answer your queries. Do write back if need any further details

regards,

I have a few queries-

1. Past placements from XLRI GMP in health care sector?

2. Has any doctor been admitted in XLRI GMP before?

3. If there had been no placements from XLRI GMP in health sector, then if I join this course, HOW would I get a good placement??

4. I have a long list of academic honors, research projects etc. Do I mention them in resume along with the application?
(the application does not mention that we should even send our resume)

thanks a lot

GMAT: 690 q49v34

Question:
1) I wont complete 5 years by March'09 (thats the course start date?) Am I eligible.
2) Does the present batch have a person with <5 years exp?
3) This question makes sense only if im eligible. My verbal score is bit low, wud that be an issue?

Hi Meera,

I want to understand the proceess with reference to Interview invites

a/ Typically whats the ratio of application received Vs Invite sent and Invite sent : Vs final selections( keeping in mind 120 is the capacity for GMP from your batch onwards).

b/Whats the exact process used in sending the invites. Is it similar to ISB's process, where 2 people- one current student and other from admissions committe, spend around 2 hrs on each applicants application.TYpically
someone with similar background is involved in the screening, eg a existing doctor would be part of committe to review the application another doctor. Incase one member recommends and the other does not, the application is forwarded to admissions director to take a call, this ensures fair play for every application

3/ Is there a pre fixed student mix defined based on verticals & sectors, 2% doctors,54% IT,19% operations etc etc..or XLRI is flexible on choosing the student mix depending on the applications received

4/I understand a copy of the resume can be attached with the application, though its not mentioned in the application.? kindly confirm on the format or one can use his/her own format.

5/ Can an incoming VS outgoing Salary break up sector wise/Vertical wise be provided for better understanding.

Thnks/Rgds

Hi Meera,

The application form has a column where we need to mention the salary.

Pls help us understand the term Salary as per XLRI norms ie, How does one incorporate the Variable Pay, and Sales/Retail Incentives which sales/retail guys are awarded from time to time. These Incentives are not reflected in the salary slips as a regular feature but only from time to time. Also people who have a travelling job have various perks attached to their CTC.are these perks associated with salary..?

Incase someone has got a couple of promotions in a short duration, which is reflective in his/her salary how does one proove that, i mean the salary increment letters need to be provided as proofs( am asking this cos if thats the case i would arrange for duplicate copy/copies from my office)

thnks/rgds

Hi Ravi,

Yes, there is somebody in our batch was has work exp less than 5 yrs by a month or two. So you should give it a try.
As i have said in many of my prev mails , GMAT/XAT scores is not the only criteria for selection....adcom is looking for a total package in its prospective students.

regards,

Hi,
You can mention the approximate pay (yearly).
We didn't submit any salary proof at the time of application (when we applied).

Just filled-out application and fee will do at this stage.

Good luck.

Re: XLRI GMP - Admissions and Beyond - 23-09-2008, 12:02 AM

Greetings to the Admissions Committee

Can you provide me cut-off and average score in XAT required to get call for GMP (at least in last batch). I am trying to apply to this through XAT.

Also I have already submitted the application form. Now I see you guidance on adding a resume to it. As I have missed it I am a bit tensed. Will it go against my candidature?

Thanks again for all your help

Surya
