Hi Mohit...

I am sure they have NRI seats atleast at IIM A, B and C - not sure of the number though !

But be sure - you should have a good GMAT score, and a very good profile to back that up... IIM-A i believe has a miminum requirement of 650 in the GMAT (that is the minimum for just applying) - you need to have a lot more than that !

All the best !!!

Samit.

Hii

All the IIMs take students thru the overseas application- for NRIs and foreign nationals. The details for applying are given on each of their websites, the eligibility criteria varies a bit. For NRI, u should be stayin outside India for a period of atleast 18 months - either studyin/working.
But u must have a very good GMAT Score..atleast a 90 percentile, also very good academic background and good workex if possible. They take very few students each IIM makes an offer of 3 students (average) roughly. They get around 50 - 100 applications...Ahm, Indore n Koz conduct interviews if shortlisted. The competition is quite high n u shud make an honest assesment of yourself before applying. Good essays and answers to questns r required by some of the IIMs and also recommendation letters ( 2 to 3)

k

The NRI fees is $8000 per yr.

There is no different treatment in placements or any other procedure from the CAT admitted students once u have been made an offer.

DO rem...the essays make a lot of difference, good GMAT (700 plus wud be ideal) n good acad background is very imp..

PS . this is in no way said to scare u.. just to give u an idea.
If im right Ahm made 1 offer last yr, bang 2 , Luk 3 ( this yr LUk made 4 offers- u can check their website.. n most of them were ppl arnd 27 yrs of age..so lots of work ex) and Koz 1... i dont know the exact figures for Cal and indore..

I had ints at Koz and Indore..waitin for results frm cal and indore rt now..and have an offer frm Koz thru NRI ....at Koz they called only 3 ppl and i believe i am the only 1 been made an offer..if u have any queries..do get bak to me..

K

I applied last year as an NRI (I had done my grad from US) to IIM A, B and C and got rejected by all 3. I had decent acads and a GMAT score of 720 which is also pretty decent but had no workex to speak of and I 've heard that they lean towards guys with workex. However the year b4 me a friend of mine appied with a GMAT score of 700 and fresh out of college and was accepted by both IIMA and IIMB. She ended up rejecting the offer as she got a job from Goldman Sachs.

data interpretation... anyone notice the 'she'
probably the only differential here... I am sure the poor IIMs are always desperately trying to improve on the male/female ratio. Talk about equality at the work place... If women/men dont make a 50/50 ratio here then that inequality is going to trickle down...

Wonder anyone who was admitted with a GMAT at the IIM could come down
and make a comment in this thread and give us a view on their background...

Re: NRI Admission to IIM - 26-09-2007, 10:34 PM

Hi,

I'll be applying to the IIM PGP program this December for '08-'10 through the GMAT route. I'm still looking for more information on candidates who have been admitted through this route.

I've very recently decided to apply to the IIM's and since IIM-A has the first deadline of Dec. 15th, I've been on a GMAT preparatory blitzkrieg over the past few weeks. I'll be giving the GMAT on Nov. 10th, so I will have just one shot at it. Else, will have to stick to the original plan of applying next year.

I graduated this May with a BS in Electrical Engineering, concentrating in Microelectronics, from a school in New York. I've been working with a Fortune500 Consulting Firm since then and I will have completed one year of work by the time of registration, assuming I do make the cut.

I'd love to hear from all of you and learn from your experiences. Thanks!
