NRI Admission to IIM

After speaking to students of the 2008 and 2009 batch at IIMA, i was told that the number of NRIs is usually 4-5..
IIM B says not more that 3-4.. yet ends up giving 6 calls - the ones we know on PG..
IIM C usually takes in about 10 per batch .. so suprised with the 7 final invites.. maybe there are others who are just reading threads but not updating ...
..alt.maybe they just dun know abt this...

i do not for one secoind beleive that 740 is not good.. in fact any score of 720 and more is great..
@ NB .. the mistake was not in the score.. it was in applying to only one school... with 740, u shud have definately tried for IIM B and IIM L... and i am pretty confident that IIM C and IIM I and IIM K would given you a PI call...

Keep the faith.. maybe u are meant for WIMWI only ...

I am keeping faith and aiming for the 760+ score for next year. Hope to chat with you shortly about the exciting times at WIMWI. And also do let us know if you see more NRI candidates when you finally arrive at Holy Ground (read: IIMA campus).

Will be nice to know the exact no of NRI's who made it this year.

Wow. I never thought there would be so many admits going out for IIM A. We have 5 only from this one forum. That's quite something. I was always under the impression that there are only about 2 or 3 per batch. But am definitely not complaining.

It seems like all of you guys seem to be accepting your respective offers. I was curious where you guys were presently located and when you intended on heading to India? We should definitely have a PagalGuy - NRI - IIM meetup or something. Lol.

And congratulations Nox. A clean sweep is very impressive indeed.

Congratulations to all who got iim offers. I got dinged in all except XLRI and am not interested in iim-l, i or k. For me, it now a choice between a fulltime program at XLRI and part time programs as USC-Marshal or UCLA-Anderson. Both USC and UCLA have great part-time programs and are ranked 3 and 1 respectively according to Business Week.

I am thinking of refusing XL. I'd appreciate your inputs.

Hi Nilesh,

Don't be disheartened. 740 is a great score, hands down. Though I have been selected in IIM A, but I dare say that the kind of importance they give to aptitude score is rather unfortunate. Even Harvard, Wharton & Kellogg wouldn't reject a person with your score on grounds of low GMAT score.

I admit that IIM A is the best institute in India, however every one knows about their world ranking. So, it could be a blessing in disguise. Try looking beyond the obvious, you never know what could be waiting for you.
