Extra Curricular: I was involved in a number of activities at work and college

Questions:
* How important are the recommendation letters at the IIM's?
* I see that we have to be in India for the interviews and the GD/PI. Are these close together for the different IIMs?

Any tips/suggestions?
As a suggestion, you might want to target ISB, US schools, INSEAD instead of IIMs as IIMs are more geared towards people with 0-2 years work-exp.

To answer your questions:
- Recommendations are def important. With that said, it's overall application that should be good w.r.t to the applicant pool.
- IIMB has no GD/PIs. Just 3 recos and a couple of essays plus the app form. However, IIMC and IIMA have GD/PIs, both in March.

Hi all,

Just found this forum few days back and I must say its brilliant..congrats to all who are going to the IIM's this year..

A small query from my side..

GMAT scores at IIM A/B/C - Do each of them consider the best score/first score/average score incase of multiple GMAT scores.

Thanks.

Recommend you check with each IIM directly; the email contacts for admissions are listed on their respective websites.

IIM-B, for one, does request for the official score report and thus, has access to all the scores in last 5 years. Not sure how do they weigh retakes.

one of my friend called IIMC couple of days back. They told result for overseas will be announced on wed or thurs or friday. Apparently, they haven't announced on wednesday.

Also, this is true for overseas only. They don't know how long it will take for domestic.

Sigh. I would like to believe that, but right now I am supremely cynical. I have a different theory..

It is highly possible that the IIM officials, frustrated with balls being thrown from one court to the other (literally), in exasperation will first stop playing tennis, and second decide to just scrap admissions this year and ask everyone to bide their time for the next 9 months and then reapply next year. Also as a primer, they will advise that you to quit your job and your parents theirs, so net income will show up as zero, thereby making you eligible for ALL scholarships and low interest loans. They will also hint at the possibility of forging an OBC/SC/ST certificate and taking advantage of the empty seats through the reserved quotas. Additionally, just a day before the results are to be announced next year, overseas candidates should move the courts asking for a 10% quota in all colleges to address historical injustices meted out to expatriates (remember all those accusations of traitor.. and 'apni maa ko chhor kar ja rahe ho' ) and thereby disrupting the entire process and frustrating thousands of students in the process.

Sorry. Just some afternoon humor. Good thing we don't have big brother (aka mods) watching our thread!

LOLOL. You win the award for funniest post on thread . Hands down.
This whole business is just about peaking in frustration now, so Thank You for providing much needed comic relief!

On an on-topic note, my very concerned father phoned IIMC today and got yelled at (!!). Response: "All results will come out together. We don't know when and we are not in a position to speculate"
