[For some reason I am not able to format this post, so kindly bear with me]Just got back from my IIM Calcutta interview. I had it in Mumbai this morning at 9:30 AM. Note to everyone. Carry proof of employment, proof of start date, most recent salary pay-stub etc., along with the other documents. Also carry your passport with you, if you have not sent them xerox copies of the same. The AdCom verifies everything to the tiniest detail. Allright, now about the interview.... I was completely unprepared for the GD. While it was not a fish market, everyone was jumping around, cutting everyone else off, digressing on random stuff... I barely managed to interject a couple of times and get a few points in. All in all a disappointing performance. For all of you who have your interviews soon and are not aware of the way GDs are conducted here (maybe joining some class would have helped), here are my 2 cents: Start early, even if you don't start of the GD (somebody invariably will), make sure you get a few points in early. Everyone is trying to cut you off (which in my opinion is just rude, but thats the way things go), so try and be as articulate, concise and eloquent as you can. That will probably differentiate you from the rest. While the rest will try and get the maximum talk-time;, try and snap in your points quickly. I was completely swamped by the rest..lol.. [note to myself: It does not pay to be polite in a GD] The interviews for everyone were very relaxed. As an overseas candidate, once again I was interviewed last. The interview was a lot like the IIM A interview and was a conversation. The interviewers want to get to know you as much as they can, so be very honest and articulate and you'll be fine. Today was definitely not a stress day for anyone, no academics or general awareness questions as such. Just a 20 min conversation. The interview was quite all right for me, but nothing spectacular. I wish I had been a little more articulate or perhaps eloquent, but again, there is no point worrying about how it went. We'll all know on the 11th of April. Best of luck to all of you for your interviews in the coming days. Hope there is plenty of good news to follow, starting with IIM Bangalore results. [ ]

Sandipan, thanks for posting your experience and all the best. A lot of people have said they had stress interviews, but it seems that was not the case for you. Do you know which professors took your interview? Also, what was the topic of the GD that you had? Any stand-out questions from the interview would also be helpful...
I've got mine on 17th in Mumbai. Fingers crossed.

From the experiences on the IIM C GD/PI thread, it seems that the folks in Bangalore had a stress interview. For both panels, not a single candidate had a stress interview here in Mumbai. Atleast not yesterday. The GD topic was an HR Case Study. It was a discussion between the CEO of a consulting firm and some other execs before recruiting at a Business school. A concern was expressed that most B School students play the waiting game after receiving an offer, and after receiving multiple offers they tend to re-negotiate their salaries. The CEO suggested that the prospective employees should be offered employment and given one year to accept. In that year they can choose to go and work someplace else and then come back and join their firm. We just had to discuss this new option and its implications. [ I don't know why I can't format any of my posts anymore... no carriage returns or anything... hmm]

Congratulations again... Are you accepting?

Fantastic, nox! do tell us a bit about yourself and your interview experiences. seems like you've been hiding in the woodwork all this while.
i'm definitely leaning more towards B for a plethora of reasons - weather, nightlife, presence of large corporates nearby and quality of affiliated schools in exchange program.
What i need some further information on is the quality of academic instruction, college infrastructure, student body profile, student life and unique selling points of the two schools to make a more informed decision.
