Hi Varun and welcome to PagalGuy and this thread. Your profile is quite outstanding and I was curious why after a degree from a school like LSE and and a profile in Banking were you interested in pursuing your MBA from the IIMs? Surely you can request a transfer to APAC? I had considered LSE briefly when I was toying between the idea of a Masters vs MBA, but I'd sure like to hear about your background and experiences.

Adcom has insisted that it will be a GD & PI rather than the PI alone as mentioned in the letter. As this goes against popular belief on this forum, has anyone heard the same?
|
As far as I know, no one has been able to confirm whether we will have to participate in a GD as a part of the interview process. However off late, I am hearing things that make me inclined to believe that we will also have a GD. Nothing official yet though.

Do we know the number of overseas applicants who get accepted (we know only around 2-3 join every year but they must be making a lot more acceptances)
|
I believe at IIM Ahd the number is about 2-3, but it is about 4-5 at Bangalore and Calcutta. I suppose these numbers vary from year to year. I have heard that about 40 students have been selected to interview at Calcutta this year (about 10 of them are here on this forum). Not sure as to how many are offered admission every year.

Final selection for general pool applicants is based on a weighted aggregate score. Adcom has stated that overseas applicants are in a seperate track. Does that mean that GMAT scores & CAT scores are not compared (by weighting for example) & everyone now starts from the same footing?
|
I do not think that the GMAT scores are compared with the CAT scores. One one of the overseas candidates informed me that GMAT candidates compete only with other GMAT candidates. Their personal interviews in general are quite different from the rest. However as we have seen earlier in this forum, another overseas student informed us that we would be competing with all students (CAT and GMAT) for the same seats. So clearly, there is much confusion.

It would be very helpful if an existing student (I know this forum has some) could address these questions, preferably if they came through the international route.

Absolutely!
