@ Modipan, Nilesh..

It came in the inbox..

The lack of any reco letters, no essays, no extra-cirix...all this makes me beleive that the call is based on the GMAT and only GMAT.. just like the Call in India is based on CAT and only CAT...
As far as i can tell, the IIM-A guys are strictly looking at the GMAT scores while looking at the NRI junta/persons of indian origin...

As far as the non -indian guys are concerned, i think the IIM-A would lower the scales. (Thanks to a prevalent perception that Indians are amongst the smartest Gmat takers..so a higher cuts off are needed..) ..

Frankly, we all have given the GMAT and the difference between a 720 and 770 at IIM-A seems to translate to a call or a reject.. This is very similar to the difference between a 0.1 % percentile difference above or below the cut-0ffs...

It is my guess that a call at IIM-A would require a 99% cut-offs...in gmat.. that is 750 or more...(This applies to the Indian crowds.. I cant comment on the minority foreign candidates who get scores upwards of 750 and wanting to go IIM-A when they could just as easily get in the US top ten MBA there..

All those still in agony, and who havent recieved the email, .. dun loose hope .. Assuming that IIM-A selects one candidate out of every 5 shortlisted and that it eventually selects 5 guys ..that means at least 20 candidates will get a call... and thats not too bad when u consider the limited number of applications IIM-A gets.. ( around 50 -100 applications )... Also remember that IIM-C and IIM-B also take students from this same pool.. so hang in
there guys ..!!

I fervently wished that some one at IIM-A who has gotten in thru the GMAT route could address this thread....it will make a lot of things more clearier..
Anybody there?...

Meanwhile, I have heard that this year onwards there is gonna no GD .. only Personal interviews.. is this true ? .. is it localised to The GMAT junta only ?..

Anyways.. lets congratulate all those who have crossed the first hurdle.. and wish all the best who couldnt make it this year... (@pavitra, there are still a lot of fantastic colleges who would kill to accept a 720 gmat score.. )

Keep the thread alive and others informed.. information is the single most crucial weapon , we have ..

Cheers
Rascal..
P.s : ignore all typos and grmammer mistakes..

Modipan ??

Just one minor correction, you now need a 760 or above to get a 99 percentile. Raises the stakes a tad.

But yeah, you're right. I do believe that the format of the application leads one to believe that GMAT scores and perhaps to some extent your GPA/Acads are all that matters. I guess work experience and leadership are considered only in the interview.

Not sure if there is any difference when they are comparing students with different nationalities. It would be interesting to know if there is such a difference and also would help tremendously if all the rejects/invites were sent out simultaneously at some time stated unambiguously during the application process. Would save a few of us (such as moi) from being distracted all weekend long

Till then, I'll just play the waiting game.

Hi Avenkate.

Sorry to hear about the IIM A decision and wish you all the best for the other institutes. I have a question though, when did you receive the email from IIM-A?

Hey a request to all the applicants, if we can have each of us posting abt our status (call/reject), it'll help us in understanding the number of people these IIMs are looking at.

I for one could not apply to A as I got to know abt it after the last date

So far I see only one PI call for A (at least on PG). Do we have any more ?

Is there anyone who still hasn't heard back? I'm getting a little worried now, since Monday has come and gone, and IIM- A still hasn't reached out to me.
