Hi,
I am a reapplicant. Last year was a half baked attempt where in the essays were not upto the mark and even i gooffed up on some of the information provided like % scored, etc. I have had time this year and would have a well thought out application in place. I was wondering if last years application data would have an effect on this years application.
Thanks!! | | | | | | | |

Sir,
Having read the thread, i collect that you can cover up for your past academics through a good gmat score and a great work experience.
The thing is my 10th and 12th were disasters and my academic records only started inproving after my 4th semester of b.tech.
i just passed out with an avg score and iam now in my family business
my queries are as follows-
Do i have a realistic chance of gettin through if i get a good gmat score
secondly if iam working in my family business, does that count as work experience?
and whose letter of recommendation would be required in my case??
thanks for your time | | | | | | | |

Since i plan to switch to finance, is it advisable for me to switch my job to a financial one. Will it affect my admission chances for next year, since i would be having less than a year in that particular field. on the other hand, if i stick to my present Job i will have a 2 year work experience at the time of joining (if i get selected). i am really confused and despirited and would really be glad if you could help me out by answering my concerns. Have a great day - Varun S | Varun, It will help if you have some exp in Finance but you also need to have minimum 2 years of work exp to apply to ISB. You have two options: 1) Either you stick to your current IT job and apply to ISB, 2) Or you switch to a Finance job, apply to ISB for class of 2011 (in case you do not have 2 years of work exp) Please refer to page no. 3 also. Dear Sir, Due to high volume of posts, I think my query was missed out. Can you please have a look at this: Thank you for your reply on the statistics. I have another query with regards to the salary part in the application: Basically I am self employed and what I do is I take equity stakes in startups(currently working with 2 startups) and scale up their operations or turn it around. So I don't have a fixed salary component but I have equity stakes, how do I show this in the application. One of the way I was thinking was to take the PAT(profit after tax) figure of the startups and calculate my equity earnings and enter this, but this value is too subjective and the valuations may be misleading for a startup however I can attach a 20% tolerance to this. Can I do it this way or can I enter the last drawn salary from an IT company which was in Sept 2007. Please suggest. Thank You Nikil

Just out of curiosity, what is generally the maximum age of the students that get enrolled. Though stats on website suggests median age of 27-28 yrs.
Does ISB has any criteria of limiting the no. of students who are in their mid 30s , thereby giving preference to young and mouldable minds.

Gurpreet | Dear Gurpreet There is no upper age limit to apply to ISB. In fact, in the current batch we have a 52 year old gynecologist as a student. There are no criteria of limiting the no. of students belonging to a specific age group. Admissions Team

Thanks!! | If you submitted the application last year and paid the application fee, then we will cross-check the new application with the old one. My advice to you will be that you write about your goof up in the optional essay and explain the whole situation properly. However, if you did not pay the fee, then you need not worry as your application would not have been processed. Menon | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
