Dear Sir,
Ive always been very interested in ISB but am feeling very intimidated by the exp of many applicants.
I have 3.5 yrs (till dec 0 with Hewlett Packard of IT exp.Pretty good exp in the sense lots of role evolving has happened and am doing a Analyst role now. My GMAT is scheduled for Nov 1st week. My ques is even if i get a pretty good score say 700+ would i stand any chance of getting a call atleast?
Pls let me know and ease my tension Quote:

I am currently a Senior Project Manager in large Indian IT company. I have a good academic track record.
Would my lower role effect my application adversely, inspite of my diverse work experience spanning several industries?
I would be grateful for a clarification.
Thanks

Hyderabad and telephonic interviews will be conducted simultaneously.
The interviews of applicants coming from Chennai and Bangalore will be conducted on 1,2,8 and 9 November. Based on this you can make your travel arrangements once the list is out.

We understand what all the applicants are going through but at the same time we urge you all not to panic. We cannot give you a specific date or time as to when the list will be released only because we want to devote ample time to each and every application and not rush the matter. I hope all of you will agree with this.

Sir,
I am planning to apply in round 2. I have 2+ work-experience in IT. In my company I am working along with the quality department and wants to build up my career in this direction only. It would be great help if you can just tell about some specific electives related to this field offered by ISB and what all career opportunities could be in this field for an ISB student.
Thanks,

Good Evening Sir
I am in my final year of B.E. (CSE). Conversations with lots of people in the industry and academia has convinced me of the fact that an MBA after work-ex is the way to go. So I have become a longterm ISB aspirant, of late.
Here's my profile.
10th - 90.8%
12th - 85.8%
Grad - 70% (hope to jack it up a bit further) from an unknown Govt. College
Extracurrics - Average
Job offer after Grad - TCS @ 3.6 lpa
Here are my queries:
1. I have a deep-rooted interest in quizzing and creative writing. And I want to make a career in one of my hobbies after rejecting the offer from TCS, which is surely going to make me another brick in the wall. But some people say that quizzing and creative writing jobs not only pay you less but are less respected by AdComs since you don't generally rise to decision-making roles in such jobs in 2-3 years. I dont think the position improves in IT jobs but still, atleast IT joba are the most accepted ones. So, I need advice on what to do post-grad : try to make a career out of my hobby or follow the beaten IT track, before applying to ISB? Also, what will be the consequences of this decision on the job profile that I get post-MBA?
2. What is the importance of social service in the ISB admission process? I have done my bit during my grad but haven't got any certificates to show for it, all I can muster is some appreciation letters. Will that hold or do I need to work at places like Greenpeace?
3. What else can I do (other than a >750 GMAT score and good essays, recos) to make my profile stronger?
Thanks-a-ton in advance. | | | | | | | |

Sir
Earlier I have asked a question concerning the placement trends and how to read into the latest placement trends at ISB. I had referred to 2008 placements where in 80% of the candidates had successfully managed to switch careers post-ISB MBA. But there was not any response to my query.
Please reply if you had missed on that earlier.
Also, my second query was regarding rolling out of interview calls and the expectected interiew dates for International candidate (The Telephonic interviews).
Please reply if you had missed out on my queries earlier.
Regards

Sir,
I have a few questions regarding classroom schedules and some aspects of the learning model.
a. How many hours (per week) of classroom sessions does each course correspond to ?
b. Will there be classes on Sundays ?
c. Can you tell us something about the "Independant study" that students can take up? Is it just a "self-study course" or can it be taken up as a "research oriented assignment" ?
d. Are there any ELP partners outside India ? Do students get to travel abroad for these projects ? Do we get to form ELP teams ourselves "or" will the partners select teams ? Do ELP partners always come with specific projects ??
I am interested in finding out, if in ISB do we get oppurtunities to take up a problem in a field in which we want to puruse our careers and try solving the same (with a team of our choice). My questions (c) and (d) above are inline with this thought.
Thanks and Regards,

I requested that the scores be sent to ISB on the 10th of September; which is when I retook the GMAT for the second time. However, since my earlier score was higher (A Score of 680 when I took it for the first time on the 11th of December 2007) and as per policy the higher score is considered, there are some veriations as a result
I had one query in this regard. The first time I took the test and got the 680, the following were my absolute scores and percentiles
Verbal - 34 / 70 percentile
Math - 49 / 89 percentile
AWA - 4.5 / 49 percentile
Overall - 680 / 88 percentile
This score report had an appointment id of 223338135
However when this score was made available to ISB on the 1st of October and since I requested that the scores be reported only on the 10th of September '08; the percentile rankings of my score vary. Note that the foll is how the score is represented this time around
Verbal - 34 / 69 percentile
Math - 49 / 88 percentile
AWA - 4.5 / 42 percentile
Overall - 680 / 86 percentile
And this score report has an appointment id of 226836429 which is the appointment id from the second time I took the test when I requested that my scores be made available to ISB.
The problem now is, since I submitted my application on the 15th of September itself and these scores were reported only on the 1st of October, my application has the appointment id of the test from the 1st time and also the percentiles that were reported then. I wanted to know how ISB approaches this problem and also wanted to clarify my stand on this so that there would be no doubts of malpractice from my end.
Also based on talks I have had with ad com members in recent days, I was told that since my app was submitted on the 15th of Sept itself and only the official score report was pending, I would be considered in the R1 cycle so long as my score reports arrive at ISB by the 1st of Oct. Request you to kindly confirm the same.
Finally my app status still shows as complete except for reciept of GMAT score. Could the admissions team please look into this as my scores were reported on the 1st itself. I mailed the adcom dept in this regard on the 1st of Oct itself but havent heard back from anyone despite following up with them again.
--Rajiv | Rajiv,
We have received your official GMAT score report and please note that we will consider the highest score for the admission cycle. Variations in the percentile score will be taken care off from our end. Your application will be considered in Cycle 1 only as the scores were received before the deadline.
