I am an R1 applicant. In fact, I have already submitted my application (Friday, Sept 12th).
My profile:
GMAT: 710 (balanced Q&V and a decent AWA score)
GPA: Super-duper
Work-ex: 38 months when I join school + 18 months of internships.
Extra-curriculars/Community services: Super (reason: plenty of leadership initiatives/roles)
I'd love to be an active participant on this thread. Since I have already submitted my app, I think I am in a position to help people who are in the process of preparing/submitting theirs. Please don't hesitate in asking me queries concerning the app procedure. Can't help with the contents of ur essays though
Another useful note would be that Ross is visiting India in October. They will be in New Delhi on Oct 13th, Bangalore on Oct 14th, Hyderabad on Oct 16th. and Mumbai on Oct 17th. Please click here for the full list. You can register for these events, if interested.
Cheers.

Hi Guys,
Me too joining the Ross bandwagon this time. I got 690 in GMAT. Just started with the application today.
Did you fill out the optional essay from Ross this time? I dont see any section in the application to fill that out. Also, which page of the application did you scan and uploaded the Transcripts?

Hi Sandy,
Congratulations on ur decision to apply to Ross. If I remember right, Page 18 on ur application allows you to add optional/additional information. Use this only if necessary. There are 3 pages, between page 12 and page 16 AFAIR, where ur transcripts from various institutions can be uploaded. But a transcript page requires all the transcripts from a particular institution to be uploaded as a single file (pdf), i.e. the front and back sides of the transcript cannot be uploaded as 2 different files. They'll have to be uploaded as a single file.
All th best!

Thanks dude.
The essays are almost ready, and I am going to submit it in next couple of days. So there is no document to send to Ross right now? Everything is online I believe.
Little worried abt the optional essay. not sure abt its contents. Other than highlighting your grey areas, how else can you use it?

Hey guys, did anyone apply for the loan program e.g Citiassist Ross loan? The website says that the citiassist ross loan does not require a cosigner but when we apply and try going through the form, it says that a cosigner is required. Could someone correct me if i am wrong.
The form also asks for an I20 or some visa. if a person is just applying to college how would he or she have an I20 or a visa??
Achyu and zoxtannin , what did u do in this case?
Guys, do we need to send any hard copy to ross or is everything needed to be done online i.e. on the online application itself?

I haven't applied for any of the loan programs yet. I did not see a 'Fall 2009 MBA' in the academic period field of the loan application so I thought I must apply later. Moreover, I wasn't sure how much I should apply for. I am still working out the total expenses that I am likely to incur and the monetary sources that I have. I don't think I'll be applying for it though. Might find other means to sponsor my studies - basically because of this confusion with the co-signer thingy.
You needn't send them any hard copy. All the required documents will have to be uploaded as a part of the online application.

Hey guys, when u say the optional essay, are u referring to the one on the last page of the application? i.e. page 18 , the question that says, " Additional Information - Please include any additional information you would like to submit." ??
Is it necessary to go in for that essay? And I if do write the essay, do i need to portray only things like gaps in my education or other weaknesses or can I write some instance of extra curricular that I've done i.e. some positives that have not been portrayed in other essays?
How have u guys answered it??
Also, after doing some R&D on the net it seems as though, if the 3rd essay - career choice thing, is something wherein u show ur extra curr activity stuff, then the 4th essay, i.e. most challengin time essay should be a professional one. or vice-versa i.e. if 3rd essay if kinda professional, then 4th shld be personal life essay. Is it necessarily like that?
Ive shown extra curr in both 3rd and 4th essay..Is that ok? Have anyone of u written that way?

Yes...I was referring to the optional essay on page 18. Candidates have been advised to use it only if necessary, i.e. to explain circumstances like gaps in education, employment or why u weren't able to get a reco from ur immediate supervisor. They usually discourage putting extra-curricular activities there as these activities, if important, should have made their way into the other essays. I did not write the optional essay.
There is no must when it comes to writing the 3rd and 4th essays. The 2nd essay talks about ur professional accomplishments. Hence, I felt it best to use the 4th to speak about my extra-curricular achievements. The 3rd is kinda tricky because u need to write about something that u wouldn't be pursuing as a profession but u are interested in and have done something related to it in the past. And u need to link what ever u have done to ur capability of managing multidisciplinary problems (refer the web for the kinds of multidisciplinary probs). So it'll be best if u choose something that u r comfortable not only doing but also talking about. It could be professional or personal.

Hi Achyu,
How did you convert your college grades to GPA in the application?
