Ways to send money from India to US - 21-05-2008, 07:12 PM

Hi ppl!

Now that most of us have decided to go to US for our MBA, i was wondering what are all the different ways by which we can send money from India to US.

We would need to transfer money from India to US for paying our tuition fees, living expenses, books, laptop, etc.

Has anyone researched abt the different modes and the costs involved?

Well there are several ways :

1. Travellers cheques - easy fast , but rates are bad
2. If you have been out of india before then keep a NRE account.
3. Cash - very stupid

If there is anything else , please do share
