-Ashka | The requirement for TOEFL has been waived off by most schools off late. However you should check the individual websites for more information.
As a general rule, the public universities insist on the scores. Private definitely do not.

Hi All,
I saw all application deadlines. Some very basic questions
-Should we write GMAT before sending the application packet to the respective B-school
-During the time of writing GMAT,if I accept my score, the scores will be sent to the B-schools.So here if I say to them 5 B schools, will I be charged for all 5 b-schools
I know these are very very basic questions.I am searching pagalguy for all my queries. If any1 knows any link that points to some very basic questions abt GMAT/MBA schools admission etc pls send me the link.
Another basic question is :can I get into any good B school in UK by Sep09( say GMAT/scholarships etc worked fine for me.).I have 2 years of work expericance in an Indian MNC, & by sep 09 it will be 3.....My aim is to finish off this MBA by Sep-2010 as I dont like academics ....

Also, frankly if you don't like academics, you will not like an MBA. it isn't exactly all party and fun..

Hi Kunal,
I've given my GMAT(2nd time) in september this year and ended up with a score of 710(40V,47Q,5.5 AWA). Due to some professional commitments,I could not apply for many colleges by the 1st round deadlines. Now, I'm left only with a handful of colleges and the others,I'm plannin to apply in the second round. The following is my brief profile:
Xth - 82.2(CBSE)
XIIth - 96.9
B.Tech - 7.66(NIT)
Work Exp.- 26 months till date in a reputed MNC
Extra Curriculars - Can rate myself a 7 on a scale of 10.
MBA fields interested in - Operations, Marketing, Finance(In the same order).
I have shortlisted the following schools:
1) Harward
2) Stanford
3) Yale
4) Tuck
5) Wharton (???)
I really could not figure out if the above list will be realistic considering my GMAT score and profile. Could you please suggest me the schools which are probably within my reach and to which I could apply having a chance of getting in? I'm a little lost..so a quick response is solicited.
Thanks in advance,
Carl. | | | | | | | |

Carl. | Hi Carl,
Please post this in the relevant thread so that pepole can answer your questions better and faster. Also, I am running extremely short on time so don't want to give you any wrong/incorrect/insufficient feedback so run it through others and if it doesn't work out, let me know and I will try and do something about it,
P.S. off the hand, that list is a stretch unless you can prove me wrong.
Cheers

Hi all,
Many of the b schools abroad ask for the undergraduate GPA on a scale of 4. I come from a university where the GPA is given on a scale of 10. And the conversion cannot be simple division by 2.5 as many people say...the reason being the "relative GPA" format followed here in my university as opposed to the "absolute GPA" system followed by the universities abroad.
So, my question is how to convert it into the 4 point scale...I heard about an organization called 'World Educational Services' which is an authorized organization which takes some fee and converts the GPAs. I don't believe anyone uses that especially for MBA. Do we have to get our GPAs converted through such organizations or Is there a simpler way of converting?
