Re: XLRI GMP: One Year PGDGM Program - 17-08-2008, 09:09 AM

Hello Daya Nand Katyayan,

Can you please clarify if GMP is appropriate for me?

I am a 40+ IT professional working for a Tier 1 Indian IT company as a Group Manager, with some strong academics (M.Tech, M.S) but not so great GMAT score of 710. The very reason why I am evaluating Executive MBA at this stage of my career is the build necessary competencies so as to head an unit or IT organization within next 10 years and am thoroughly convinced that full time 1 year executive MBA is the way to go.

However, considering that there is significant investment outlay to acheive my objective, I am not sure if the risk I am taking is worth it. Clearly, my cost-benefit analysis assumes that I will land up in a reasonably good assignment post-MBA. Does this assumption hold true, given my profile and given GMP's placement trackrecord? I will appreciate if you provide your candid response.

Thanks in advance.

Dear XLRI student ambassadors,

Firstly, let me thank you for the wonderful job you have been doing by helping prospective students.

Can you please throw some light on the application process with timelines?

1) Once the application deadline passes (31st Dec), what happens?
2) Are interviews conducted ? If yes,
3) When does the interview shortlist comeout?
4) when are they usually conducted?
5) When does the final admit shortlist comeout?
6) How many offers are made per batch?

Thanks in advance.

Management, Marketing, Information Systems, HR, Economics/Strategic

3. XLRI brand name!!
4. LATERAL PLACEMENT OFFERED FOR LAST 3 YEARS. LAST YEAR AVERAGE SALARY WAS INR 17.8 LAKHS
5. Amazing batch diversity - work exp from 5 yrs to 20 yrs. Excellent peer learning - levels above the normal courses
6. A very cost effective course. Total package for year 2008-09, including fees, hostel, international immersion program etc - 8 Lks.

The application criteria for our batch was a minimum work ex of 5 years.

Batch profile for GMP’08-09

Average GMAT score 690.77
1. Average Work Ex 7.37 years
2. Average age 29.63 years
3. Average International Exposure 18.56 months
So, feel free to shoot any questions.
Hi Friends

Myself amit.
I have also applied for GMP course for 2009-10 session.
I am giving XAT for it.
Done B.E. (Production) in 2001 and have about 7 years of experience out of which 3.5 years in Automobile components industry in Sales and 3.5 years in Sales & Marketing in Capital and Construction Industry.
Just planned to give a try to these courses, so couldnt be able to give either GMAT or CAT and so either IIMA PGP PMP or XLRI GMP are the last hopes.
Well now have planned to give GMAT in feb-march if couldnt get thru both of these institutes.
I require some help from you people:

Can anytell me what is the cutoff for GMP course in XAT last year in percentile for overall test and for individual sections based on which people were called for PI.

Cheers
Amit
