XLRI GMP: One Year PGDGM Program

New to this thread,but not to PG.WOuld Write Gmat in Aug End,

My Profile

10th-80%,
12th-76%
BE. 63%
2 Yr Retail Management from NIFT( 6.8%)
Total work ex 6 Yrs by april 2009
1 yr work ex post BE in a Sales and Distribution firm( Non IT)
2.5 yrs work ex in a Retail Major in Ops and BD, Heading One of the zones,handling a large team and territory
Last 1.5 Yrs in a Top MNC's New Retail venture as Brand Manager(Marketing),so primarily am a retail Person.

Apart from work work as a part-time faculty for retail management course in one of the colleges in Delhi/Chennai( more as a hobby).

Travelled extensively in Inida, and 1 month international exp

Extra curriculars have been a saving grace.

Department Captain and strategist for 3 years( Cricket,Volleyball),Won Many awards in Cricket at B.tech.Played Carrom at college level.

Sports Captain and College President during my PG.Participated.College Debating winner,Coordinator for college Fest...and other activities.

Did some social service work, through my previous org for Tsunami victims.

Request the seasoned campaigners to kindly evaluate my profile.WHat else can i do to enhance it

with 3 yrs work ex you can apply to ISB-hyd- first round ends on 15th sept

IIMA has no work ex-binding, but you should be 27 yrs old when applying, though the avg work ex of the students there is 10 yrs

Great Lakes-chennai-would also fit in your 3 yr work window.

IIMC,XLRI require 5 yrs or more

IIM-Indore EXPG .. Is it a full time residential program or part time prog. What is the application deadline for batch commencing in 2009

First query…likelihood of getting a call from xlri..what other factors do they consider...is there as essay that we have to write or something...
Second query…application process and deadlines…the website of xlri is not clear…they still have the 2007-08 admission brochure and not the later ones…so what would be the deadline for application and when does the course typically start…I am targetting to get in the year 2009…
Third query…with regard to placements…how good is the institute for getting into consulting firms..i am targetting to get there…and how is the course rated in comparison with its 2 yr course…

Sorry Puy! I was busy in regitration formalities, shifting of family etc. , So I could not reply on time. However, now I have settled at XLRI, so you may expect quicker reply. Here is reply for you querries:
1. You have very good chance for shortlisting for PI
2.Please visit XLRI web during month of Nov, you will get the details.
3. I will not comment on this issue, because I have not undergone the process of placement.

The admission is through either XAT or GMAT followed by an application and an interview. For more details, check XL web site. XLRI School of Business and Human Resources, Jamshedpur, Business Management School India, Executive Education Programme, Personnel Management, Industrial Relations Programme.

You have an excellent profile. What distinguishes you is your non-IT background ! Just make sure that you are able to convince the adcom withyour leadership skills in the interview.

XLRI' GMP course is one of the premier courses which takes in GMAT. Though Xat is also accepted, majority of the candidates take in GMAT.

Thats what i sensed also, NOn IT background is a plus
I would be taking inputs from all you Vetarans to crack GMP

am also targetting ISB,and couple of International schools( though undecided yet), need to figure out the ROI,Course,Oppurtunities for family etc etc
