Crab, You are right about the new hostel facilities. The current classroom cannot accommodate planned PGPEX Batch III size of 48 students. IIMC has already started constructing new facilities for Academics and Accomadation.
About the fee structure, All the IIMs are hiking the fee structure of their regular 2 year programs & 1 year programs. After last years successful placements and with the upcoming new facilities, IIMC has no choice but to increase the fees. Quote:

Hello Guys,
First of all thanks for sharing such valuable experience, you know it definitely
helps people like me who have limited resources but still willing to grab.
I need to know about my chances and advice on how I should be taking up with my profile.
Work Exp - 7 years .
Industry - Software product development industry.
Gmat - 650 so far hoping for 700+ before I apply.
Extra-Cal -> average but I have taken some personal initiative at
different levels for example united people against irregularities
at social front, also gave career counselling to lots of people.
Leadership exp -> Since last 2 years I have been leading team of 5-6
people.
Though my experience is in IT but its different from masses in a sense I have
only worked for product development companies. Out of 7 years I have
worked for around 4.5 years in one of the top global company and since
last 2.5 years I am associated with one of the ambitious SFO
based startup-company.
Here I got chance to work with best of technical brains in the industry.
The main reason for me doing MBA is to get an understanding of how
business is done and factors influencing it. I would like to use my
present exp in my post MBA job. personally I have seen there is a big gap
in s/w product dev professionals.
There are many who are excellent at technical front and lack business
knowledge and vice versa.
I need to improve on my English both written and communication.
So please let me know your suggestion on how I should approach this
admission preparation and Is PGPEX is correct course for people like me ?
Post MBA I will be looking for a job in s/w product dev company, VC's who
invest in such companies or any other company where I can use my
learning and exp.
Thanks / Rohit | | | | | | | |

Hey Avomc,
Nice to see u back here.... Since you have already graduated from PGPEX, are you happy with your placement/job profile post PGPEX? I prefer hearing from real graduates rather than a press release from an institute.
Thanks. Quote:

Every B-School loyalist in a public forum would respond +vely to such query. However, you can hear from me personally about my job profile and then evaluate it.
No B-School degree ALONE will fetch you a dream job and there are always some unhappy people in every passing out batch.
Not everyone may have gotten a Dream job, but everyone got a better profile over their earlier one. Quote:

Being a loyalist to its alma mater is understandable... I just wish that guys who have gone through the program should reflect on the true realities of post PGPEX jobs as this is now a question of ROI too as the fee has increased 75% since you graduated. As fas as I remember you had a decent R&D experience with HP. I was just curious if you did get the profile you wanted. I have similar profile as yours... you can reply me through private message if you like. Thanks for your time though... Quote:

Thanks / Rohit | Dear Rohit,
Since the average GMAT score in case of IT applicants tends to be higher than the batch average, I would say 740 should be a "safe" score for your kind of profile. For all I know it may work out for lesser than that but this should give you some cushion.
Your ECAs can bring in significant differentiation if pitched in with due emphasis. Since there is no word limit for essays, make sure you quote few short examples for greater attention.

Hi Altitude,
My profile stands like -
6+ years of exp in IT, with 1.5 yrs in US.
Btech from IITR.
GMAT - 700.
Eca - College time involvement in organizing tech fests and elections of students union, organized few office parties and tennis tourna.
Looks like competition is getting tougher for IT guys as most of the applicants are from the same pool.
Do I stand a fair chance with my GMAT score or I should try to take it again ?
Regards,
