One of the questions likely to be asked of anyone being interviewed at IIMC is - have you applied to IIMA/ISB and if selected at all three which would you choose. Any thoughts from folks on why IIMC would score over the others and for what kind of goals/profiles would IIMC be a more natural choice?

Thanks

Does anyone know if IIMC contacts the employer of the applicant for the PGPEX program?

Thanks

That depends upon what option you have selected in the application form. They ask the students beforehand...

One way would be to compare the courses offered by these institutes, another would be how it aligns with the individual goals, say entrepreneurship, yet another would be based on demographics of the students who are admitted

Hi Altitude,

Thanks Buddy for this invaluable posts for IIMC-PGPEX.

Hey, I am planning to apply for 2009 / 2010 session. I am really unsure wheather to go for it or not. Currently i am working for a fortne 500 MNC in Europe. The role is of a team lead with pretty decent salary, also my technology is in demand. I work as a SAP functional analyst CRM/BI. I have done lot of IT/consulting work in my previous roles with big consulting firms like Capgemini/accenture. Keeping that in my mind I am thinking of doing an MBA as i am feeling stagnanat now in my career. I was thinking of doing it from INSEAD/LBS/IMD but looking at PGPEX, it really attracts me.

Planning to take my GMAT very soon.

What do you suggest? Should i go for PGPEX? What score will be a good score looking at the posts, it looks pretty high. What are the job prospects in terms of career growth?

My profile-

Engg from a state level engg college
8 years of IT exeperience
3 years of Internation experince in Europe, SAP Academy trainer in India and the UK
Acad - OK 67% Engg, 75% HSC and 65% Secondary school
ECA - OK, memeber of college annual events, organized lots of team building events in my previous companies

Would appreciate your fair opinion.

Cheers!

I have answered your queries in the other thread. I'd encourage you to look at IIMC PGPEX website to get a hang of the kind of companies, job profiles, salaries etc., and then make up your mind.

Hello Alttitude,

Can you please give us some idea about the following, particularly (b)-

a) the number or percentage of students in your batch from an IT background.
b) the number or percentage of students from an IT background with an experience range of 5-7 or 5-8 years ?

These details are not available in the brochure or in the class profile mentioned on the website.

Thanks,

Thanks,
a) Around 50%
b) Around 60% of IT applicants would be in that range (range being so broad), but it is heavily skewed in favour of 7 and 8 years experienced folks

Hi Alttitude,

I am applying for 2009-10 PGPEX program. Below is my brief profile:

Job designation: IT consultant; Mostly technical work though
Work ex: 5 years+
Role: tech lead
Vertical exposure: poor; worked at BSE, Mumbai for 2 years
GMAT score: 730/5.0
International work ex. : Nil though my current client is based in the US
Acads: B.E. 79%, 10+2: 81%, 10: 91%
Professional certifications: NCFM securities module, appearing for DBF (Diploma in banking and finance) to be held in December this year
Extra curricular activities: Played football for my company in corporate tournies, member of a gov. registered NGO

I have few queries regarding the the application:

1. One essay asks for 3 important events in last 5 years at my work place.

Which kind of events I should highlight? What are the points I should stress on when mentioning those events? Can I mention an event involving the NGO I am attached with, say, raising fund for a social cause from my current employer?

2. I have zero international work ex. Will it have a negative impact on my candidature? Can you give me some suggestions which I can mention to counterweight absence of int. work ex.?

3. I am from IT industry and like to shift to IT consultancy in banking after MBA. But as of now I have zero exposure to banking. So should I mention specifically what I want to do post-MBA in my SoP? Also, can I mention I am appearing for DBF this year?

Let me know what is my chance of getting a call vis-a-vis current and previous batch profiles.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Alttitude,

some confusion here. You mentioned in one of ur posts in this thread that appointment no. mentioned in GMAT official score report is the registration no.
I sent a mail regarding this to PGPEX and got a reply from manager, PGPEX. The mail says that 'GMAT ID is the GMAT registration no.'
So not sure, which one I should provide. Can u please tell me if thrs a change of mind at IIMC's adcom end as to the GMAT registration no. since ur post in this thread (post no. 54 ; date: 22-05-2008 ) ?
