1. What is the method of teaching? Is it more case study based or lecture based. If case studies what is your opinion of case studies done in the Indian context.
2. How often does IIMC invite guest speakers? Is there a place I can get a list of recent guest speakers?
3. What is your opinion on the encouragent IIMC provides for entrepreneurs and funding.
4. I understand that it is a general management course but most B schools have their strengths based on the pedegree of the professors. According to you which areas do you think IIMC is strongest in ( Marketing, Consulting, etc,)
5. 1 Q which has nothing to do with my apps. Do IIM professor do consulting for companies while they are involved with IIMC. Are students involved in helping the profs.
My list may be unusually long. Please answer them at your convenience. |
1. Its a mix of both, depends upon the subject. Case based padagogy is applied in subjects like strategy, marketing, finance, IT, sometimes operations etc. and lecture based is better suited for subjects like economics, statistics etc. Not sure if this answers your question, but more subjects are taught using case method than otherwise.
2. There are multiple occasions when speakers are invited, various fests, convocation, bschool competitions, etc. Exclusive for PGPEX, we have a course called "Being a CEO" where speakers address the class. Recent speakers for this course were CEOs/MDs of companies like Rediff, Jindal, Ambuja, Johnson Tiles, ING, Reliance (FMCG & Pharma), Berger Paints etc.
3. We have a dedicated centre for entrepreneurship. Very senior professors chair this centre and help aspiring entrepreneurs connect with the right people and also in refining the business plan...
4. IIMC is traditionally known for Finance, Strategy and Economics
5. Yes, they do consult for all big names. A large number of professors are also on the boards of various biggies, both MNCs and public sector companies. Students who are interested in taking up extra assignments can approach the profs at a personal level and help them in their consulting assignments. To my experience, profs have been very friendly and supportive in this regard.
