Dear Alttitude,
Thanks for your words of encouragement. I am taking some courses to mitigate my Undergrad score. Hope that might help... anywhere I can check the past profiles of admits?
Does post qualification means after graduation or after professional course. The reason why I am asking this is because I did my Diploma in HM in 2000(since IHM's were not offering degrees then) and started my employment. When I realised that I need a degree to apply to MBA colleges I did a Degree through correspondence from IGNOU which was granted in collabration with IHM's. I completed this 1.5 yrs degree in 2006.
I discussed this with Mr. Arvind Sahay from IIMA at the MBA tour in London and he thinks that should not be a problem for IIMA but he mentioned that he cannot speak for all IIM's. Is IIMC flexible on this aspect? Quote:

Their contact details as well as an aggregate candidate profile is available at IIMC PGPEX Program

Hi All,
I have certain queries regarding the essays in the application form.
1.The last essay is an optional essay. I know it is optional but somewhere I read that it is better to send an essay for this too.I wanted to know if not writing the optional essay would affect the admission chances.
2. My next query is regarding Section 14a (Letter of recommendation) - Take a print of the sheet, write our name and sign the form and send across the print out to the recommednders. They should fill up their details, signup, close the envelope and sign on the flap. These signed recommendation letters should be part of the application packet sent by us.Are the above metioned steps correct for sending the recommendation letters?
Thanks & Regards,
Sudarshan. | | | | | | | |

Sudarshan. | 1. Optional essay should be written in case you feel you have something more to highlight (which will boost your app) which you have not been able to cover in the previous essays for want of relevent context. Ofcourse if you have more achievements, the strength of your app increases to that extent, and so do your chances for an interview/admit. But its not true the other way round, that optional essay always results in a better application. Its the content which will decide.
2. Not sure what (or rather why) your question is. Please be specific about the exact source of confusion.

Hello altitude,
Sorry for the confusion regarding the recommendation letters.I basically wanted to know if the following is the correct procedure for sending across the recommendation letters:
1.Take a print of the recommendation sheet, write our name and sign the form and send across the print out to the recommenders.
2.Recommenders should fill up their details, sign, close the envelope and sign on the flap of the envelope.
3.These signed and sealed recommendation letters should then be part of the application packet sent by us.
I was a little confused about the exact process of sending recommendation letters.Hence wanted to clarfy the same in the group.
One more query I had is regarding the accomodation for families in the institute.
The application form specifies that family accomodation is limited. What is the process adopted by the institute for allotting the same and what about people who are not able to get a family accomodation?
Thanks & Regards,

Sudarshan. | Yeah, since it requires your signature you'd need to send the hardcopy to your recommender. Also you may additionally send the soft copy to him/her so that it becomes convenient to type in the second part of recommendation (the detailed strengths/weaknesses) before taking printout...
Regarding accomodation, so far whoever wanted family acco in last two batches got it. They'll make sure that its taken care of, don't worry. They've mentioned it in the application form just to encourage single people to opt for single acco...

My question concerns the following..
1. SOP does not have a limit. But we can not just keep on writting there, can we? Is there any optimum length, about 1 page? If I have to give a description about my Purposr stagtement, then it has to be about 1 page, with referrence to my skills & the things I have done, rather than making it a really long story abt my acheivements. So what is the optimum length of SOP.
2. Same question for the 3 activities & 1 important incident. If someone can suggest a tentative word limit, it would be really helpful. I dont think adcom wants to see a RAMAYAN about me. But i dont think a toos short decription will do any good either. So any suggestions?
3. I am in US & my reccomender are in India. Can they directly send the Recommendation letters to IIMC?
Thanks

Ritz | 1&2 - You are quite right, the optimum word length to my mind is 600-700 words.
3. Please contact PGPEX office, they should be able to give you a more concrete and official answer. We can only speculate here...

Dear ALL,
I am also a PGPX aspirant & would like my profile to be evaluated
Academics - Postgraduate in Pharmacy from UDCT, Mumbai - does being a postgraduate add to any advantage?? Have a good academic background
Workexperience - Would be close to 6 years at the time of admission, Working in Patents management & Projects Identification in pharmaceutical company.
I am a Registered Patent Agent
Was fully sponsored for a IPR course in Japan by the Japanese government
GMAT is 650 - which I guess is on the lower side
would value your comments & suggestions
cheers!!!
