How are the placements after graduating from IE?

From what I perceive, learning the local language or any european language plays a major role in your placement. I have come to known about Alumni's of previous batch who spoke good spanish and were able to make it to the Madrid office, a few with HSMP to UK, for a few others, things were not that rosy, and came back to India. I must say it's better to have this checked with the Alumni, as the information I would be posting would be a second hand info.

What also matters is the location, the sector, the industry one wants to work post MBA and the experience one gets pre-mba, average being 5 yrs. IE is a very good school in terms of teaching as the lectures are case-study based, that means real-life business cases. Every stream taught here is equally good. I believe that finally everything is left to an individual, and how he is able to prove his worth. And this is true even for grads from INSEAD or for that matter from any European college.

I have been in Europe for quiet sometime, and I appeared for my Interviews and Aptitude test in Europe. The questions asked were simple and straightforward, and mostly directed from the essays you write. There were few games in terms of exploring idea etc. but mostly I kept my interview very interactive.

1) Describe your job, your roles and responsibilities
2) Since I was involved with multiple projects with different domains, I was also dwelled into the differences in each of these projects and the knowledge I gained.
3) And then the same old song - Why MBA? Why IE? Other Institutes I covered and why?
4) Experiences of Teamwork and Leading a Team
5) How I managed my professional, personal and social activities?
6) A 59 sec game.

I was also able to approach the Adcom with 'n' number of queries. You will find many communities in Facebook, Orkut etc Get in touch with the Alumni's to understand the first hand experiences. MBA is an investment, the risk has to be taken at some point in your life, and education is definetly a long term investment in this period of recession. Luckily europe hasn't been affected much due to this.

Well, now here I am...waiting for next steps to begin after I was shown the green light by IE. Funding, Visas and external scholarships are still on the hunt.

I have been working as a software analyst for the past 4.3 yrs, and looking forward to explore areas like strategy, GM, Finance and Enterpreneurship. Though I would like to have my focus put more on Strategy.

Kunal,
It's never too late. Last year, I had applied to Oxford, RSM and HEC-Paris after mid-april, and I acquired interview calls from each of these college. The disadvantage is that the schools are almost at that time, and I was told that most of the places from the students of your region have been registered, please re-apply next year.
You can still apply, as I can see IE moving from city to city within Europe, looking for good diversity.

Anita,

Perhaps you can find some excerpts of this IEBuzzBook_excerpt.pdf which I came across during my research. None-the-less the experience, diversity and the case study approach would be the key differentiator for a MBA from IE. It would be great if you can get some information directly from an Alumni. They will probably give you good picture.

Dear All,

I am currently with my Scholarship application process. Yet to hear from IE and few other Scholarship groups. I am currently checking the feasibility of obtaining the VISA from here in EU. In the meanwhile, I am confident of RSM, MBS and 3 others from top 15s. My decision of getting into IE is based upon the financial options I am left with. Will keep you posted.
