Got a definitive admit to the International MBA program at IE today
But I have a very tough decision to make between IE and Imperial now.
IE is a top ranked school no doubt. But what worries me is the job scene post IE MBA. Need to decide on something fast.

hi I got an admit to MiF@IE for september 08 intake. I got offers from EDHEC Risk&Asset Mngt in France as well, but I'll defo go for IE. It is a big name and may bring up really good job opportunities. As for job prospects, it is all about financial services industry, this year was dead but hopefully 09 will be better. And since the CFA level I is compulsory to graduate, it can bring you some offers as well. I am EU citizen so I hope I can have some offers around London area etc. The programme is changed it was a Masters in Financial Mngt previously I think. Some liked it some disliked it so they changed it now, the curriculm seems promising but we will see, it is the best offer I got since the classes were full in Cass and Imperial so I'll go for IE. Let me know if there are other guys who got admitted to Masters in Finance @ IE!

I had a quick glance at IE website and def attracted towards the Intl MBA prog.

But I had few queries. Would appreciate if anyone of you could answer,

i. Thr r no placement statistics available on the website. Wht is the scene like?
ii. How good is the school for strategic mgmnt?
iii. Also, wat would be the right time to start applying for Apr 09 intake and Nov 09 intake.

Awaiting responses

Thanks!

Hi,

Regarding ur queries ..

There is one placement report on IE website but its for 2004. I recently received the latest Placement report for IE but I m not sure if that was bcos I have already paid the fees. You can request the adcom for a copy of placement report

I saw a mix of big, medium and small consulting firms in IE Fair from Arthur D. Little, BCG to valoris etc..

Around 20%+ of students go into consulting and I believe that's a decent ratio

But getting a job in your area of interest depends on other factors as well. i.e your local language skills ( Spanish) , prior work ex, ur grades in MBA etc etc..

As far as IE is concerned, if you are looking for ajob in spain, you don't have to worry about anything provided you are good at spanish. After spain, some of the students go to London as well.

to get a better picture, I suggest u get in touch with Adcom.

IE has rolling admissions. But its always suggested to apply as early as possible.

Kunal

And I was given a waitlist stating that the seats were already filled up, so they would like me to try it again. I would propose you to take a deep breath and start targetting for the next year, in the meanwhile strengthen your profile.

Well you can also pick the option of trying it out at a couple of colleges for this year (just be aware of the admission costs involved)

All the best !! Let me know if you may require any assistance with this...
Hi Rocksaint,
Well,i am a newbie, planning to write GMAT by Nov and hence forth lookin for Fall'09 intake. Had come across your post and found you seem to have acquainted with IE,RSM & MSB. I'm currently having 1.3yrs of work exp and by Sept'09 it wl be 2+. I would like to know what are the criteria the admission process are based upon and the avg GMAT score required + work exp as i wl be having 2yrs of work exp. Also, you wl do a world of good if you can forward me your profile i.e CV,Application Letter & Essays which would surely enlighten me further.

Thanks
