Folks, I am new here. The energy level of this group is refreshingly positive ! I am currently considering MBA options in Europe, came to know about SDA only a few days ago, and now am getting increasingly curious and excited about Bocconi.
I 'll be following this thread for your experiences. My best wishes to all of you !
Regards,

I read many things about admission rates in Bocconi (30%, 20%, 37:1 ecc.)... what is the real rate?!

I think the real one is the one published in the Business Week and Forbes rankings. For both the number is 37%.
From the figures published in the 2 websites, we can see that last year 402 people applied to SDA Bocconi, sligthly more than 37% were offered a place, i.e. 150, and 107 accepted the offer, i.e. slightly more than 71% (the number is 107 for BW and 100 for Forbes, but I think that the BW one is the right one).
Edit. The Economist wrote 37:1, but I am sure what they really meant was 37% and they made a mistake when converting the number (they didn't convert it).

Well, last year was an easy year, the economy was going REALLY strong, applications for the MBA had to be done between September 2006 and April 2007,and with Investment Banks showing record profits most people preferred to stay in their job or enter the market rather than do an MBA. Than in August 2007 the 1st signs of a huge crisis arrived, and from there it all went down the drain. So this year is a COMPLETELY different ballpark.
If you look at other business schools, you can see that Wharton, among the top three business schools in the world, last year had a 18% acceptance rate, i.e. close to 1 out of 5, IMD a 28% acceptance rate, more than one out of four, Oxford had a 46% acceptance rate, almost one out of 2! We're talking world class programs here! In this sense, I think that the 37% rate Bocconi showed indicates a good selection.
Truth is you would have had it easy last year. But the people who got in last year will face a really tough job market, I wouldn't wanna be in their place.
This year, on the other hand, number of applications sky rocketed, Cambridge received more than double the amount of application in round 1, rumours are that LBS had a 300% increase, and wherever you look you see people and admission officers talking about probably the most competitive year ever. So, if I were you, I would be proud of getting in.
Anyway, it's not so much important why you were selected, or how competitive was the process, what counts is the quality of the program, and looking at the SDA program, the level of the teaching, and the career prospects, I think I can say that the SDA Bocconi MBA delivers results.
