Your profile appears pretty competitive. Make sure that you highlight your community/ society service experience well. Good luck!

More importantly, as far as EC is concerned, I am involved in activities which basically fall into giving back to society. However, all this has been in a contributor's role, not at all as a leader. How much water does it hold in your opinion?

Hi,
I have 10yrs of exp in IT industry with 4yrs in PM role and with 5yrs in Banking domain.
My goal is to advance my career in IT industry. This is very generic and I am trying to make it more specific.
1. What specific roles/functions in IT industry are best suited for post PGPX career (with my 10yr of project management exp)?
2. How does the program help me move from Project/Program management to Marketing/sales etc.?
3. For PGPX admission process, How specific one's post MBA goals should be?
Thanks,

Praveen,
I like your alias esp. since its very much like mine
Your profile is quite good. A good GMAT score will enchnace your chances. Very good questions and thanks for being specific.
Roles post-PGPX?
The placements have ranged from executives to directors to VPs etc. In my opinion, its upto the candidate to choose. The placements are customized to meet individual needs. One alum mentioned that it is best to keep your options open when you join such a 'powerful' course - you'd be amazed at the opportunities that open up. Please read Career Inside IIMA PGPX for more details.
Functional Move?
It's quite possible to make such functional shifts, but am not sure what percentage of the grads make such a move. Keep in mind that the course covers general management concepts (although you can choose electives) which are applicable in a variety of leadership roles. It again depends on your interest and the choices you are willing to make.
Post-PGPX picture?
For interview purposes you should project yourself as an organized and a well-planned individual. You have to have an idea of why you want to join this course. I'd suggest sketching out short-term (more concrete) and long-term objectives. Don't worry, everyone understands that your plans can (and probably will) change over time.
Good luck,

Hi Sanjeev,
Thanks for your response.
I got 770/5.0 in GMAT so it will add some weight into application.
I am working on my application/essays so I may have some more specific questions as I progress.
Thanks,

Hi,
Please post the details/information about the various student forums, clubs, groups that are active in PGPX program.
If the information contains the following, it will be useful:
1. Primary focus/objective of the forum
2. Activities & Frequncy
For an aspirant with 10 yrs exp in IT project management and a goal to pursue marketing/sales career post PGPX, which forum is more suitable to contribute and to learn?
Thanks,
