Hi, Your profile is good and you should give PGPX a try. As far as your comments on placements are concerned, one has to be cognizant of the fact that each batch of PGPX would perhaps have a different placement story, which is primarily driven by the composition and preferences of the batch. I'm aware of people leaving high-paying jobs and joining smaller organizations at much higher roles. Please note that unlike 2-yr MBA program placements, placements for PGPX are highly customized and it is difficult to compare y-on-y, even if we've a natural tendency to do so. If at all, a comparison is warranted, you may want to look at Average Salary number, which has increased since last year. On the nature of the recruiters, there is a good mix and it is again driven by which kind of companies, PGPX students of a particular batch target. Whether you’ll be suitable as a candidate or not, depends on your post-PGPX goals. We’ve 2 CAs, a few CFAs (different levels), 1 ICWA and a good number of MBAs in current batch. Hope this helps.

Also, need some advice from you guys -
My Profile -
Age - 29 Years
WE - 6.5 years as of today + 3 years of CA Articleship = 9.5 years
GMAT = 730/6.0
Edu - CA with an MBA 8 years back
Working - In a Financial Services/AMC company leading a team of 34 people as Sr. Manager
Co Curicular - Nothing great, a bit of University Tennis, some acting including small screen, and some publications in journals.
What do you think abt this? I know a Non IT => almost automatic greater chances, but still....
Also, I took a look at the companies hiring both the PGPX I and II, and most are from IT, IT Consulting and manufacturing, do you think I will be suitable as a candidate?
Thanks a lot for taking the time, really appreciate it | | | | | | | | |

Dear All,
I am planning to apply to IIM A,C,L and ISB. Concerned about my academic profile and industry background.
I am seeking feedback whether I will get an interview call. The other options for me are UK colleges but IIM's, ISB would align better with my future goals. Are IIM's, ISB looking for a diverse student body in terms of experience and industry or the intent is more on potential placements and passing out salaries?

Hi, Your overall profile seems to be quite balanced. Work experience is on lower side but you may be able to make up for that via your Extra Curricular activities. Lower GMAT can be a concern, since most of the applicants come from an extremely competitive pool. I'd suggest any of the following three options: - Write GMAT again to improve on your score before PGPX applications close this year - Write GMAT again later to improve on your score and apply next year Irrespective of which option do you choose, I'd strongly encourage you to apply this year anyways. You will only gain by doing so. Hope, this helps. -Pramod- Quote:

Dhinesh,
I was offered an admission to the PGPX III batch, but due to personal reasons I deferred my admission to the PGPX IV batch. So, I'm not a student yet, but, plan to join the next batch.
Well, I guess no one commented on your profile. OK, I will. Here goes:
You have enough experience to be considered a strong applicant. Remember, Intl experience is a plus and not a must. If I were you, I'd apply by projecting my entrepreneurial experience and other attributes/achievements/Extra Curs to differentiate myself from the rest of the crowd.
Acads: X and XII are not even considered, so it's fine. You BE % is decent.
As far as the GMAT goes - higher the better. Last year's average was close to 730. Quite a few folks asked me about my GMAT exp. Read my blog Half Full for my GMAT strategy and experience. Hope it helps.
Good luck,

Mohit,
Is your total experience 45 months? That is quite low for the PGPX course. Remember, that the PGPX positions itself to prepare the selected executives for middle and senior management positions. Somewhere (can't find it on the website), it was mentioned that substantial exp. (I think - 7 yrs) is expected from the applicants of the PGPX course. So, I'm not sure whether 45 mos is enough.
Rest of your profile looks great. In my personal opinion, ISB may be a better fit for younger candidates.
Good luck,

Pramod/Prabhu,
First, my profile in brief:
# Indian, Male
# 30yrs, 8.5 yrs work ex when I join next year
# Acads - avg, from NIT Nagpur (erstwhile REC Nagpur)
# Working in IT, on ERP/CRM. Will have been a Project Manager for almost 3 yrs in March 2009, PMP certification in 2007
# GMAT 740/6.0 (2008 )
# Have managed initiatives that have directly impacted the bottomline of the organization
# Have managed development of dashboard that enables the CEO to assess Sales VPs' performance (interacted with the directorate office for this)
# Have managed sunset of an organization application
Would you please share your thoughts on how competitive this might be?
More importantly, as far as EC is concerned, I am involved in activities which basically fall into giving back to society. However, all this has been in a contributor's role, not at all as a leader. How much water does it hold in your opinion?
