Hi Anshul,
i am applying for mba for fall 09. i ll just give a brief background:
-topper at school
-ntse scholar
-03-07 btech mech engg iit madras ( CGPA: 7.83)
-secured admits to iim l,i for 07 session, but dint take any
-working at halliburton energy services since aug 07 in cairo and indonesia. ll train in the US from aug - oct and work in angola thereafter.
-GMAT score: 770
-extra curriculars:
1. college tt team captain, 2 golds n a silver over 3 years
2. did sponsorship and publicity work for college fests with teams of volunteers under me.
3. coordinated lan gaming event
4. at work, i lead a team of 3 ppl when we go out for work in the desert. communicate with the client directly.
some social service thru sociology course @iit
I have 11 months of work ex rite now but by the time i join i e fall 09, i ll have 2 yrs of work ex. I want to my mba in finance. - Which schools should i target, given my profile? also taking into consideration the fact that i am low on work ex.

I am a Chartered Accountant and a Cost Accountant ( both First attempt) by profession, i have around 44 months of workex till now and plan to apply 2 following schools in fall 09.
Giving my GMAT in Aug 08
harvard//wharton/GSB chicago/columbia/NYU stern/ISB/LBS/TUCK
I am also a certified assesor by CII ( confederation of indian industries) and a certified treasury manager by catalyst consulting group. Work exp
Was into treasury and forex, financial planning and Analysis, derivatives, product control ( from manufacturing company to TOP I banks).
Has around 8 months of international work in whole Europe and Newyork helped in migration of processes from abroad. Extra curricular/Community service
Was a school leader and college leader.
represented my school and college in inter college cricket
Stated a group called "Mavericks" consisting of all F1 fans . i was the one of the guys who started it in 2000
helped our office staff to effectively use the paper.
Is a member of our society committee which helps in the day 2 day management of things in our apartments, Community service
worked with an NGO - sponsored by our company, during the Tsunami ( nagapatanam )
Stated a group in our locality to help people understand the effective and efficient usage of water and helped in putting thru a rain water harvesting plant in the locality.
working with underpriveleged children for their rehabilitation and education. Post MBA goals.
I want to get into front end Investment banking/PE/hedge funds,work in M&A . Hence i want to apply to schools which are good in finance.

Hi! I'm a tourism graduate with 8 years experiance with Domestic Airlines ranging from Customer Service to Operation control and network Planning,Currently I'm managing Schedule for biggest airline in India.I hv scored poorly in GMAT (540) however would not like to attempt again,Want to go for one year International MBA;good scholarship required as I don't have much to spend.What are your views about AIM Manila,HEC Montreal.Give me your suggestions on if a one year MBA good enough to change lines from Operations or area like Network Planing to Marketing(Aviation)...and offcourse my chances of getting admitted to your suggested institutes. | | | | | | | |

I jus gave my gmat n m searching hard to short list da col. i need to target .
Plz hv a look at my profile ->
BTech comp sci. from ip univ. 70%
1yr exp in an mnc ,wil target for fal 09 ,so it wud b more dan 2 yrs .
10th - 83% 12-61%
played in delhi junior football touranament , university level as well as in zonals n school .
dropped an year
gmat score : 720
Please advice me on da colleges i shud b targetting as i dont trust any of da counselors in da market ...

Based on my Profile, I would like to know the strength of my candidacy for the MBA program for FALL' 09. GMAT score : 1st : 690( 50-Q, 34-V, 5.5 AWA) , 2nd: 700( 50-Q, 34-V, 5.5 AWA) Degree : Bachelor of Engineering ( Information Technology ) Academics : Have an excellent academic record. Have consistently been a top ranking student through out my academic career. Extra curricular activities : Winner at various inter collegiate events Social Work & Responsibilities : Have worked for NGOs and have been involved in various social activities. Work Experience : 4 years in leading Indian IT companies. Involved in a leadership role .Started my career as a Programmer and moved on to the Functional side. Currently working as a Sr Business Analyst. 0.5 years experience in teaching analytical topics and Maths Career Goal: To be a Financial Analyst and move on to be an Entrepreneur. Keeping this in mind I've alligned my work experience to move on to the Analytical/ Functional side . Entrepreneurial activities : Currently working on a business proposal based on GPS functionality. Thanks for starting this grt initiative. Could you please help me on my profile.
I would like to know which US schools should I narrow down on:
Gmat - 700
Grad- 59% BE computers
XII - 78
X - 77
- Winner of national level project competion organised by Red Hat and IIT
- Winner zonal level badminton.
- Working of a NGO, have done some good work here
Work Ex. - 4 yrs (By the time I join )
2 Yrs - At a product development firm, pure technical exp.
1 yr - At a finance firm, work includes both technical and business analysis
I would like to pursue a career in consulting, management consulting to be precise. Which schools shud i consider?
I am planning to apply to ISB as well would my low grad score be my pitfall thr  ?
would really appreciate any help on this.

Wont waste your time Interested in : HRM/HRD . GMAT:Sept 18 Expected score: 720+ Work Experience: 2 years Acads: good. Extra Cirriculars: Good. (Will elaborate more if required) Help: Suggestions for any universities aborad that offer good HRM/HRD courses.

i was planning to quit and take a one month break to study for the exam and then look out for an HR job (to gain relevant exp). Will taking a few months break put a black mark on my profile?
