Re: Cass Admits/alumni - 20-02-2009, 12:56 AM

My interviewer was Senade Robinson-FT MBA director.
I have work ex of 3 years with Infosys and around 4 months with Tata Steel.

My interview went for almost about 45-50 minutes.
Few questions that I remember are
1)You are a technical person-growing well in your field why u want to switch.
2)WHo is your role model-I said my Dad,then she asked any other known
face-I said NRN and it would be better if you could relate them-I mean
some common qualties between the two
3)WHy Cass-remeber not to tell thins like good faculty, great industry
interface-they will say its common for all London colleges so why not
LSB and CASS-u have to be careful-this question looks simple but is
very tricky, say something about the course module, innovative ways of
teaching ,etc
4)Why should i take u-again be very careful-shldnt be something
general as they again will say that ever1 has those qualities
5)SOmething about recession, how has it affected your own
company,country-when do u expect it to end,how is Obama
admisnistration different etc,
6)What do u do in ur free time,hobbies-somehow relate ur hobby to ur
long term goal.
7)What spl thing have u done in ur team-what learnings
Which one do u like most-marketing,finance,hr?-remmebr to stick to
general mba as Cass offers general MBA-if u say anything else-they
will get into its details.-like what is marketing, its terms etc
9)Remember to do some research about the interviewer and prepare one
question-They will force u to ask them a question
10)What if u dont get job in UK
11)Remember they will read ur SOP and resume thoroughly-so u too shld
be very thorough with it.

I practiced 2-3 times-mock interview ,u can do the same so that u
dont get stuck.
Also the 1st 3-4 questions will be the the general ones-so be very fluent them.
They try to contradict you somehow using your own wordings.

Hope this helps

My interviewer was Julie Verity who is a senior visiting faculty at Cass. I happenned to Google her name a day before the interview and the first link was Julie Verity - Educating Business. That was scary..

The interview started with normal introductions...she then asked me to give a brief background... but didnt specify if family or academic or professional... so I told everything..
The main questions were...
1) what is ur current role and responsibilities
2) have u ever traveled outside India... I have not but luckily had lots of video conferences with clients and couple of presentations when clients visited our office.. which saved me..
3) why mba? why at Cass?
4) which other schools you have applied to? after i told my 2 other options. she asked why at Strathclyde?.. why not LSB? why not Oxford?
5) What can i contribute apart from my IT exp?
6) What differntiates me from other applicants?
7) Will i be able to cope with the teaching style of Cass.. u know group assignments and case studies
How do I manage my team at work? .. regarding interpersonal skills.. ppl mgmt

After that she asked me if i had a question... Here i blew up a little by asking abt scholarships... but then quickly realized and twisted the question by asking if the current global recession had any impact on the funds.. and recruitment...

I gave myself 50-50 after the interview.... and I got the offer...

The only advice i can offer... is be yourself... even u screw up one answer.. dont let it affect rest of the interview
