Re: INSEAD 2009 Applicants - 14-05-2008, 05:52 PM

Hi,

I have few questions regarding filling application form:

1. In "International Exposure" section, one is asked to mention activity. What is expected there? Writing only "travelling" as activity will do?

2. Similary in section "Activities & Interests", writing "helping street animals" will suffice as activity?

3. In "Activities & Interests" section, one is asked to mention "Position/Level/Office Held". I was the founder and president of an NGO what should I write for "Position/Level/Office Held"? Does "/" mean to mention any one of them or writing all three are expected? If all three are expected then what would be the answer in my case?

Thanks in advance.

Re: INSEAD 2009 Applicants - 15-05-2008, 03:54 AM

Thanks! I checked the dates and found that July 13 is the last date for the Jan 2009 batch .
Also , I read that they generally do not entertain folks who have been rejected once , so dont wanna take a chance.

Can you please suggest me about my prospects of getting through:
10th - 85%
12th - 87%
Received a national scholarship(NTSE) from 11th till I graduated , Maths Olympiad State level

UG from NIT Trichy (CGPA 8.6)

JOined Capgemini from college and still working with the same. A vergy good job growth , promotions every where . This is my second trip to US and my client is Merrill Lynch.

Extracurricular - Learned classical music and dance.
Thats all I can think of now at a high level.

It is tough to answer questions assessing someone's chances when I don't know what my own chances of getting in are!!!

Anyhow, based on the information you've given your profile is typical in the sense that you're Indian and in IT. Being a female definitely works in your favor - takes you out of the ubiquitous IIM (Indian IT Male) bracket.

You've good job growth and international experience so thats a plus. While IT as such is not seen by Adcom's as an exotic career background, its upto you as to how you package it in your essays and how interesting you make it.

Extracurricular - unless you have some leadership experiences, this is not a strength.

Things to watch out for - only 7% of INSEAD intake is less than 26 years so you really need to be exceptional to be accepted at your age. You didn't say how much workex you have but 35% of the class has 3-5 years and 55% > 5 years.

And since you're still young, I would suggest you consider top 10 US 2 year MBA programs as well. Don't know what exactly your reasons for choosing INSEAD are but you need to be very sure and portay that in your essays.

In summary if you take my advice, with the little information you've given, I would say that you'll be taking a huge chance by applying in R3. I would've waited another year.

Unless you are in a hurry to do your application, you might want to look at your GMAT score again.

Inside the application there is a question : "May we contact your current employer" ?

How to answer this?

I have not told my employer that I am applying for MBA. So is it ok if I say NO for the above question?

Well PRAGR

Thats a tough one...suggest u tell them that u have reservations on this. (They can always confirm once u r in and have the final taken..).
I know of cases who have said NO and they don't seem to mind at all.

Best

Nikhil

PS- Have many others u know have got the final admits. Me waiting eagerly for mine

Did you guys get 100%? Any idea which field could it be?
Hi Guys,

I'm facing the same problem.
I have checked all the language fields and they are filled with Y. I have already applied the digital signature and IMO all other fields are filled too.

Can anyone point to a required field?

Thanks !!!
