I applied for Stanford's fall 2009 admissions in round 1. I'm anxiously waiting for news of a possible interview. Is there anyone around here who was invited to interview with Stanford?

I too a doctor applying to Stanford in round 2. Staford does not offer electives in Health Sector Management as such but Staford's Public Management program offer few courses in health care such as Analysis of Costs, Risks & Benefits of Healthcare, Innovation and Management in Health Care etc and then Biodesign offer some other health care courses as well.

Wharton, Harvard, Kellogg and Haas have good Health Care programs.

Anyone applying to stanford in round 2. did anyone got a interview call, from R 1 applicats.

1) Have I done justice to my jobs? 3 companies in 2 years?? Brand names are important, but this shows the lack of clarity in goals. Do think twice before switching again if you want to do an MBA, as this thing will not go down well with adcoms.
Secondly, you won't be able to show any career progression with this. Do you think 6 months in Amazon and 6 months in Google are sufficient so that someone can contribute meaningfully to the company.

2) Start thinking about stories - Why you need an MBA? Why you need it now? What kind of leadership experience have you demonstrated in your career. Doing some Project management activities does not constitute Leadership experience. You need to lead a team or a project may be - not necessarily directly but you may be working with them and bring some tangible results that fit into a companies strategy.

3) Building soem websites and all doesn;t really matter much until and unless you build something like Pagalguy

I think you can build a great profile if you tread in a right direction. All the Best!!!
Hi eng_harsh,

I really think your reply to that message was very impressive, Can you help me advice

I am a Business Analyst in an IT company working mainly as an IT Sales agent with a total of 4 years of IT expereince,

By the time i apply i'll have 4.5 years of IT expereince (3.5 years of development & leading & 1 year of sales).
1) Infosys as a Software engg - 2 years
2) Capgemini as Tech Lead - 1.5 years
3) Cognizant as Business Analyst (IT sales) - 1 year

Expected GMAT score - hope to get above 700

Advantages
1) Very strong domain knowledge on Retail, worked on every part of it and done everything from development. testing to Sales
2) Mixed expereince in both tech & sales
3) Strong & supportive Managers who'll justify my reasons to go ahead
4) Awards in all organization for comittment and "out of the box thinking"
5) loads of client facing expereince (visited atleast 30 top retailers in India in 6 months and proposed various retail solutions)
6) very sure about what and why (IT marketing)

Disdvantages
1) 3 compaines in 4.5 years though the reason is
a. The first jump was because I was drawing an extraordinarily low salary from
infosys
b. The second jump was because i got a job in my interest area i.e IT sales and
thats what i want to do an MBA on
2) Did my UG from a good but not a top class college
3) Relatively lower expereince (4.5 years)
4) good client exposure but no international exposure

Reason to Do MBA :
I have already reached a position where generally people with MBA's are, infact i think now i really understand what this degree is all about and I have learnt
everything through work expereince so I need to network with others to understand their points of views and ofcourse who deonsn't want to go back to school and start again :-)
