Kind of worried bcoz I will have to manage things from here. Will be glad to hear from people in the same boat and preferably, having worked this problem out.
Vidushi,
Would request you to please discuss it on our (ISB 2010) yahoo group
isb-classof2010 : ISB - Class of 2010

1) There could be some restricted info we shouldn't share on a public forum
2) It will be much easier for you to figure out stuff on the yahoo group - there is a lot of discussion on the Yahoo Group regarding banks and loans

Okie guys I know I am off topic but i just wanted some info on this. I am hearing that ISB has only 500 admits to the CO2010 instead of the previously announced 560.
Is this just some crazy rumor or any truth to this?

Try the State Bank of India NRI Cell to start the loan process, and then you can take it through.

Well, according to the latest statistics on the IIMA and ISB websites, 17% of the ISB offers are overseas offers and till last year, overseas offers were less than 10% at ISB; as against this about 25% of IIMA graduates have accepted overseas job offers in 2008.

May be you need to look for some other explanation for this lack of significant difference between the pay of graduates of IIMs and ISB, inspite of the difference in experience levels.

I would think that, Finance and Consulting companies are the high paying companies and the % of graduates who take up jobs with companies from these sectors at IIMs is possibly much more than the %of ISB graduates getting placed in these companies.

Pay in IT companies, Marketing jobs, FMCG sector etc is relatively low for people with the same experience profile and a larger % of ISB grads are possibly getting into these sectors.

Please checkout the statistics.

Regarding the lowest pay, you may be right that IIM grads take home lowest pay may be Rs 55 thousand and for ISB grads, it may be around Rs. 70,000.
But just remeber that IIMs have significant number of freshers as against ISBs minimum experience of 2 years.
Also IIMs follow GOIs reservation policy and admit nearly 20% of students from SC/ST and this is going to go up soon to 49%.

One should make apples to apples comparison, to make meaningful inferences.
One more thing to look at is the number of students. People are talking in terms of percentages here. But to be fair to ISB they have a bigger class. and it's only going to get bigger. So % comaparison may not be fair.

In any case my point of view is - if you have 2-3 years experience only then there is a tough choice between IIM and ISB. But for 4-5 yrs experience and above ISB is the clear winner.
Freshers anyway have a better chance only at the IIMs.

CAT 2008 - 99.68%ile Quant - 95.10, di - 96.42, va -99.49. Calls from L,I,K. missed C by 1 mark in Quant. IIM B only god knows Missed IIM A due to
GMAT 2008 - QA - 49 , VA - 40 Overall 720
I rejected MDI

Hi Ankit,

Nice valid points. But my honest suggesstion, one should not go for an MBA without prior work experience. MBA is all about understanding and assimilating practical reality of life. A whole lot of what is taught / discussed is missed out, if somebody fresh from degree heads for an MBA.

My sincere advice, work for 2-3 years, then try for ISB / IIM. Experience the whole process and then decide which school is the best for you. My vote would offcourse go to ISB. ( I have experienced both XAT/CAT and ISB)

I agree ISB is THE first choice for 2-3 yrs exp guys. but for those with 5 yrs exp (by joining) and 27 yrs age (by joining) can keep IIMA PGPX as there first choice.

thats my take.

u can refer to the IIMA PGPX thread I have started..
