2. Two years of work exp is required at the time of applying or at the time of addmission?

3.What is the minimum GMAT score required for addmission?

Kindly advise.
@ Shweta_Singh85

1. 2 years of full time work experience is good at any level. Executive level experience is desired but not mandatory for applying.

2. Two years of exp at the time of admissions. So if you are completing 2 years as of Mar 09 i think you should be good.

3. There is no minimum GMAT score for applying, but to be competitive you should at least aim for 700+ and in your case i would say 720+ because you also represent the IT pool where the competition is the toughest.

Cheers !!

Just receieved an SMS from ISB, the text is:

Your online evaluation received from <recommender name>. ISB.

I guess that answers questions raised by a few people on how we will know whether the recos have been submitted or not.

Back to my essays now.

Age 40 GMAT 690/5 Now what? And is it Good Idea at 40?? - 05-08-2008, 08:05 PM

Hi all,

Am in Army, 20 yrs wk exp and 40 yrs age. Will complete obligations in Army by Apr 2009 or so. Took GMAT on 05 Feb got 690/5. Question: what now?

Though have zeroed in on a few colleges for one yr pgmes, which are, ISB, IIM A PGPX, INSEAD, IiM Cal, but have great misgivings about whether they will take a guy at 40 yrs age and 20 yrs wk ex, with 690/5 on GMAT.

Anyone who has been through, or is going thru exp like mine or was in similar sit, pl help and tell if admissions committees will shortlist me at all. If they do then will they ask doubts such as why at 40? and how to tackle such questions.

Also one very personal doubt: My work life after one yr MBA will start at 42. Will I have enough time to recover my investment of 20 Lac in ISB?? What would be the best course for me as of now. Have to know before I start wasting money on the application processes!!

Also wanted to share my GMAT exp for all u takers. Managed 690 with 44 in Quant and 40 in Verbal. Could have done better in Quant though. By Question 20 in quant, u will reach level of ur competence. Thereafter each question will make u sweat, and work hard. PS will be 3-4 steps and require calculations, and so will DS. In my case, did not know why they were throwing such questions at me. Had not seen them during prep. Tried solving them all and finished my time by 33rd question. So very stupid of me. Lesson is - be prepared for tough ones from 18-20 question onwards, coz that is where the CAT would have reached ur level of competence. Plan ur time well. Take care

The apping process will start somewhere around july. In that case, this should be the right time for any aspirant to start preparing for his GMAT.

Let it be anywhere from writing GMAT to Application processes, post you queries here and get it answered.

I hope the current ISB PGs will also help us reach our goal.

Check out the GMAT prep threads, you will find loads of information there. I took the GMAT with 2.5 months of prep. The first 1.5 months I studied like 4-6 hours per week. The last month I was on vacation from work and studied like 6-8 hours per day. Finally managed 740 (V 41, Q 49), AWA 6.0

I guess right now the first thing you should do is to seriously analyze where you went wrong in both of your attempts, and concentrate your efforts there.

Cheers
