PGs,

Glad to see this thread buzzing again. I've learnt a great deal on these forums. If there's anything I can help with, do let me know (PM/post) and I shall do my best.

Cheers

Hi,

I think my query got lost somewhere. so i;ll come again. What is the funda of the one word essay? Do we have to define and explain the word given to us? As in is it a type of assessment for testing our vocabulary ? Or is it like, they just give the word and we have to write whatever comes to our mind about that word ?

I am a bit puzzled as to what is expected from us in this essay.

Am sure if you browse thru the thread ans look at the words asked you will realise that it is not a vocab test.
They are trying to test a lot of things - perhaps even comm skills, whether there is a huge diff between ur app and the 100 word essay, what sort of random thoughts can u generate.

My advice: Chill about it and write what comes to your mind. Do not look for ideal / correct "answers". I went all over the world writing about PASTEL ! my wall color, picasso, michaelangelo, school art class, camlin.

people have seen words like beat and best in R2 - so it is rather obvious it is not a matter of vocab. For all you know it might just be an innovative way of getting the invitees to start thinking about random stuff before the interview starts - pre=conditioning the mind for thinking and talking

Send in a thank if you find it useful guys - I like it

And all the best to everyone

Oh my dog. I would have been clean bowled had I got a word like Pastel. Best and beat are easier to handle.

Vivek has answered your query, but there's one other tip. In case you don't know what the word means, you can request a change. It's been done before by someone during the R1 interview. Be honest instead of writing about something unknown. If I remember right, my word was ferocious.

While you should be relaxed, I have come across a post from Simz which does not rule out the possibility of this short essay for behavorial analysis by the ad-com.

Hi guys. Wanted to know:

1. Have any R2 interviewees been asked any case estimation/market size etc kinda questions like for R1? Also the numbers sequence questions have been asked to lots of people?

2. For the 100 word essay it is hand written right? So are we allowed to go a bit over the word limit? Or do we have to manually count every word?

2) I never really counted the exact words. It's a piece of paper with a large box marked on it for writing. I just made sure that my short essay started and finished in the box.
