Please write to PGPAdmissions@isb.edu , if you need any further clarifications."

Dear All,

I am planning to apply to IIM A,C,L and ISB. Concerned about my academic profile and industry background.

I am seeking feedback whether I will get an interview call. The other options for me are UK colleges but IIM's, ISB would align better with my future goals. Are IIM's, ISB looking for a diverse student body in terms of experience or the intent is more on potential placements and passing out salaries?

GMAT: 740 AWA 5(200
10th: 76% (1995)
12: 78% (1997)

UCLA Extension (200: Maths for Management 100/100
Job Profile: Started as a Trainee after Hotel School, presently GM for a small hotel group in London.
Entrepreunerial Experience: Failed franchisee startup 2007. Running a Small franchisee.

Short Term Goal: Real Estate or Hospitality Consultancy
Long Term Goals: Revolutionary hotel chain

12th 83% Cbse

Played a lot of cricket at state level....
Won Some Quiz competitions at the work place....
have a work Ex. of about 3 years in the service/IT industry...
no change of job till now...
have handled an onsite project recently...(would it help?)

Now the question is how good is my profile as far as ISB is concerned and what is the score that would add weight to my profile??

Please some one help me out....
Dear Hero,
You seem to have some good extra currs (thanks to your state level cricket). However, since your background is IT, would advise you to aim for a GMAT score around 720-730. The more the better, but a 700+ would give you a good platform. Also, turn in a strong application

Somehow I feel that if chances do reduce drastically for a R2 applicant then much rather I'll continue in my present job and gun for a 2010...
I don't think the chances go down in R2. Roughly half the admits are in R1 and the rest in R2. Last year the # of R2 admits was marginally greater than that of R1. The conversion rate is also roughly the same: 6:2:1 (approx)

Re: ISB 2009 Aspirants - 20-06-2008, 12:36 PM

I was going through ISB prospectus.

No where it states that two years work ex is compulsory and i ll quote the words used in the prospectus.

Quote:
To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:

1) A bachelor's degree in any discipline.
2) Preferably two years of full-time post qualification work experience.
Can you guys please clarify on this ??

Regards

Kartik

On popular request, here are the questions in the reco form:

1. Under what circumstances and for how long have you known the applicant?
2.
Please rate the applicant’s achievements when compared to those of his or her peers and mention the reference group with which you are making these comparisons.
3.
Please describe, in brief, situations where the applicant displayed signs of leadership abilities and team skills.
4.
Please mention two consistent strengths of the applicant and if possible provide instances where she/he demonstrated these strengths.
5.
Please indicate two areas where the applicant has shown learning and improvement which would add value to his application to the ISB.
6.
Please provide any other comments that you consider are relevant to the applicant’s admission to the ISB, especially regarding the applicant’s career in business/management.

IMPORTANT:
I was talking to Mr. Srinath (Admissions Manager at ISB) and he wanted me to put in a note saying that "ISB prefers" the online format to the offline format for the recommendations.

Hope this helped. ATB.

The last manager should be good enough.

ISB does look for diversity in terms of students' background and their work exp. IMO, you should be able to easily get an interview call, if you turn in some decent essays and recos.

Dear Karthik, ISB does consider students with less than 2 years of work experience, provided they have a truly outstanding profile overall (Acads, GMAT, Extra curriculars, essays, recos, interview performance everything should be really good). I which case, ISB might consider offering the student deferred admissions, during which he needs to complete 2 years of work ex.
