: After Nervously waiting for an Extra day compared to everyone else in this thread, holding my breath yesterday night when my status was not updated, I finally got the Holy mail.
Admission Offer Made:
Yes – Deferred offer for the academic year 2010-11
Congratulations! You have been offered admission to the academic year 2010-11 commencing in April 2010. We regret that we were unable to offer you a seat for the academic year 2009-10. Please check your email for details of the deferred admission offer.

: : I don't think I've read about anyone getting a Deferred admit till now on this forum (I've been following it religiously). If there is anyone on this forum, or anyone who people on this forum know or have heard of, please let me know. I'd like to get in touch.

: Thanks a lot for the wishes to all the eligible people here. Congratulations to those who have made it, Best wishes to those who haven't. There are definitely a lot of highly eligible, mature and highly deserving people who haven't made it. I hope there is something better in store for those.

: I don't know how good or bad this is. To the seniors/ISB students/alumnus/adcom members/other people with experience, I'd like to know what are the avenues where I can make the best of this. For example, should I aim to change my job to a different profile. Should I do some specific certifications. Does ISB placement cell help deferred admits like me in the 18 months we have to pass before joining? I'd like everybody's help with this.
:new_ukliam2:: Although I'm not entirely jumping with joy, which would have been the case had I been accepted for this year, I kind of think that well, this is a blessing in disguise, I can probably make the most of my ISB experience now that I know I have 18 months to prepare for it.
: I hope to be active in this forum the this year and the next year as well, and help all those applying in R2 this year, or for MY CLASS - ISB CLASS OF 2011

: My Profile :
10th : 87%, NTSE scholar
12th : I don't want to tell (some disaster)
Graduation : IIT Madras class of 2007, Btech in Biotechnology, 7.74 CGPA. 1 Conference paper, Foreign Summer intern.
Additional Certification : CFA Level 1 (June 2008 ), CFA Level 2 June 2009 Candidate
Total workexp : 16 months, IT Consulting (No International exp) --I think this is what finally led to the 'Deferred' thing.
GMAT : 760 (QA 50  , VA : 44), AWA 6/6
Extra Curriculars : Decent (Lots of dramatics, debates and extempores, won a geography quiz at national level, some sports as well)
Essays : Totally self written, did not take help from any agency, just asked a close friend to review it.
Social work : Floated an NGO with friends, did some real good work there, was questioned about it in detail and the panel was really interested, I think they saw that it was not fake but real experience.
Interview : I'd rate it as good. Although it was my first interview so I don't have any benchmark to compare it with, but the panel was very friendly, it was a conversational interview. The usual questions, Why MBA, why ISB, Why now, post MBA goals, some questions regarding my profession. Have posted the interview in detail, on my post dated 15th September.
My MBA Sob (now not so Sob) Story : Was always good in Mock Cats, used to consistently be in top 10 in Time in 2006, and in CL in 2007-2008. But always messed the verbal section in CAT somehow. got only 4/100 in cat 2007. Have been getting 99+ percentile overall last 2 years, but don't clear sectional cut off for verbal :-x. Took GMAT after flunking last cat, and did well. Had thought will apply Next year anyway, but randomly applied to ISB although I knew I did not fulfill the minimum workex criterion. Got an interview call and was astounded. Finally all's well that ends well I guess. CAT was good too this time, am expecting interview calls from IIM's, but now I don't think I need them. Will of course take further advice on IIM (PGPM) vs ISB , if I get IIM final calls at all (not on threads, as i know it is discouraged as it turns into a flaming match), but in person. I would like to advice all those who have got rejects this year, to consider this piece of advice, coz its true. 'All good things come to those who wait. Never give up. If you don't succeed, try try again'. It has worked for me, finally, after failures and rejections, I have got something to cheer about. I hope and pray, and in fact, am sure, that it would work for you too :rockedov:.
Finally, this smiley, which I always wanted to make on all those CAT discussion forums, but could not :
Thanks. God bless u all!
