But I can totally understand. Last year, I and my wife applied together and my wife got in but I didn't. It was awkward. But I spent one year at ISB (not a year yet) and it was great fun. The female spouses have the most fun at ISB campus though... even more than the students. Anyway, but this year, I got through.

Look at the positive. The way I look at the situation now is: it is actually better that we are going through this one by one. So that one person at a time is an earning member and the financial burden is less.

And hey, congrats for the tuition waiver. That's the highest waiver I have ever heard in the last 5 years.
Hi JackOfAllTrades I have sent you a pm .... Please check it out
Thanks,

Any couple made it to ISB this time ?
Well, when I was on the other side last year, I saw a positive side again. I felt it's good if both of us complete our MBA together. This way, the variables will settle faster and we can move towards settlement sooner.

But hey, now when I'm in, I see the positive here... no competition with your spouse.. (Am I being over optimistic to make myself happy? Maybe I am [])

I know of a couple in the current batch. They are doing great.

By the way, there's an article regarding doing MBA together... quite a good read: MBA à Deux | Stacy Blackman Consulting - MBA Admissions

Hi All

I too got an admit.

I was a reapplicant from last year. Well, to all those who couldn't make it this time...don't loose faith at all guys.. The fighting spirit is all that matters. This was my only app for this year. I had made up my mind to not go outside India and do it from ISB only [though I wonder why I was so adamant about it ].

Seen my share of disappointments last year. Just one thing I would like to convey here to all... identify the best and unique in you and package it well. Then present it to the adcom clearly. That's the only strategy I used.

Btw...I forgot my PG id and created a new account today.
Would like to meet up folks who got in from Bangalore.

The wait was worth it...and it always is.

Regards
Cheekus

folks, now that all the R1 admits have had their fair share of time for partying ( and it can continue) can we please start discussing loans, schools and other logistics ?

The gang that has decided to accept the PGPX admit is getting together to bargain good deals on educational loans for the whole group. any ideas.

I saw a post on a yahoo group, cant seem to find the link anymore

I had a question here, do you think that it makes a big difference if you have a face to face interview? What are the potential pitfalls of a telephonic? Anything you feel I should take care of?
I think a face to face interview is definitely more preferable than a telephonic one. Having said that, I dont think that it was my interview which did me in last year, it probably was my GMAT score.
Obviously, not everyone can make it for a face to face interview. I would say, articulation is extremely important in a telephone interview. As they can't see you( body language, eye contact, etc.) and they can only hear you, you have to be extremely sure of what you are saying. Practice out your answers loudly(to standard questions like, why ISB, why MBA, why do you want to come back to India, etc) and write down points you can refer to during the interview. This is an advantage in a phone interview. You can even 'google' the word they ask you to speak on. As you may be aware, this is how the interview starts. Just be really confident, no 'ahs, and mmms..'
I also realised that I prepared a lot more for my phone interview than my face to face interview as there a many more unknowns in the former.

I hope this was helpful. All the best to you!! I'm sure you will be fine
Cheers.

Can we bargain a better deal if we get together on our own, or would it be better to approach banks via ISB ?

That's a great idea. Should one quickly make a yahoo group on this? It would certainly be great to get stuff together on this and try and work out better deals from the banks.
