Hello Puys,
Probably my second post on the forum, first one ofcourse was asking opinion about my profile.

just got the golden email...Im in as most of the puys are......My profile goes as below:
GMAT: 680, IITD bach 2006, 2.5 ye\rs work-ex so far with Lehman Brothers (oops Nomura now)......some good achievments in the job so far and a good gpa in IIT is what took me through I would guess.

Congrats to all those who made it and good luck to the rest.

Hi Nigamn,

I was following your IIM vs ISB posts earlier and found them very interesting. I have not commented at that point in time, as I didnot want to. I am sure if I am not commenting now, I would do injustice to Pagalguy.

I am an MBA from XIMB 1996-98. It was one of the top 10 institutes in India at that point in time (infact 6'th). From your profile I see that you have worked mostly in the US. Post MBA, I have worked in west for 3 years. Now I am a successful Entrepreneur for last 7 years. Total 13 years of Work Ex.

Think before you take the decision. As for me, I have not applied to any IIMs and wouldnot even join them if I am given a NO FEES Admit. (Now I can say this as a Puy who would be ISBian). Earlier it would have meant, I was trying to please Adcom. There is no vibrancy and right business promotion culture in most Government sponsored Indian B Schools.

Be very careful before you reject what could have otherwise been the right thing for you. I would suggest visit the schools and then take decision. Donot go by some abstract theory, if you have higher work experience join IIM else take ISB. In time to come the whole thing would change.

If your goal is entrepreneurship, then the only place is ISB. ISB culture is right for that and the exposure is enormous. I havenot seen or heard of any college which can say - one of the objectives for people choosing XYZ B-School is for networking.

These are my views and thought that I should share them on Pagalguy. PERSONALLY I feel, at IIM you are not the core product. I am not sure how much would the network help a non core product. At Xim-B, they used to view and treat ExPGP guys as CASH-COWs.

Hope this post would be of some use to you and other guys in a similar boat.

Cheers..........

MRC

Hello everybody!
Got an Admit from Kolkata.
Congratulations to those who converted!
Best of Luck to those waitlised.
To those who could not make it- something better lies in store for you'll! go get it!

I would really like to know if anyone else from Kolkata has got an admit. Please PM me in that case.
For the others, will see u all in April!!:hurray::hurray:
P.S Did anyone get a merit scholarship? Are they supposed to come along with the offer mail, or separately. As far as I remember, one need not apply for a merit scholarship separately. Please correct me if I am wrong.
