Hey Ranga,
Ur marks are very decent and u seem to have a good profile.. Just make sure u work hard enuf on ur GMAT and ur application essays are well tuned..
However, just to give u a feeler, just like people with low workex are asked why do they wanna do an MBA so early in their career, I have a feeling people with 8+ years of workex wud be asked why do they wanna do an MBA so deep into their career.. SO be prepared to explain that..
I may be completly wrong, its just a thought that hit me now.. Someone in ISB with 8+ years of workex wud be able to clarify this..
But other than that, u have a good enuf profile.. Extra currciculars are weak, but then it can always be compensated with other factors.. High workex, good gmat, good application can add up together to an admission next year..
ATB.. Buzz me if u need any help..
Sam
This is not what I had in mind.. But then, it's not as worse as I thought it would be..

Absolutely. Atleast 8 out of 10 people will be asked this question in some flavor or the other, "Why MBA with only x years of work ex?" or "Why do you want to risk giving up your well paying / high profile job and do an MBA?" or more generically "Why MBA now?". I see it as a question for which every one has to prepare (irrespective of the quantity and quality of work ex).

Nilsoft,
If I were you, I would be looking at a GMAT score of 700+. Surely. Academics is just one selection criteria, and I believe one can compensate (to a certain extent) for avg acads in other areas like GMAT, essays and extra curriculars.
All the best.

Re: ISB 2009 Aspirants -

Hi Guys,
My profile:
BE- Civil - India - 82% Final, University second rank, 75% aggregate
ME- IT- Australia -Distinction average.
Work exp:
- 6+ years in Australia in retail (biggest retail brand in Aus) IT sales as Sales Manager (IT), Compliance Manager (Operations - non IT ),Business process analyst (Retail operations) and as retail store manager
- 1 year in India as site engineer
Extra Curr:
- Very good in school. Average in Collage.
- Almost none in Australia apart from helping out within Indian Community here. (Cant provide proof). It was a struggle for six years to settle in this new country doing part time jobs and paying fees in dollars. Didnt get a chance to think about extra curricular.
I am looking at ISB in 2009. Yet to take my GMAT- Started preparation - Should manage atleast 680.
Please comment on my profile and areas to work on.
I have one question for current students of ISB. I am yet to take Australian Citizenship (never felt a need). Now , I am thinking to take it (I will be dual citizen as an Overseas Citizen of India -OCI) as it may improve my chances to get in ISB as a non Indian passport holder. Please let me know your thoughts on it.

jskarrer,
You can't always provide proofs for all that you do. And I am sure that the adcom will agree with me. So you can still present the same in your application form. Infact, this year ISB had asked certificates only for the items filled in awards section. You can always write your community work in the "activities" section of the application for which you dont have to submit certificates / proofs. I dont think adcom relies on proofs to establish the authenticity of a particular claim. The interview panel can easily see if a person is bluffing or not. So if you have indeed done something, you dont have to fret.
Btw, You can even show "non-certificate" documents as evidence. Emails, handouts with your name on them, anything will do.
Otherwise your profile looks good and I would say you stand a good chance.
And I am not sure about the value add that an OCI will bring. Sorry.
All the best.
