Dear Venkat, Last year companies like Arcelor Mittal, Amazon, Google and Mckinsey offered jobs in the operations domain. While Mckinsey's offer was more towards an analyst (in the domain of supply chain and operations management), the other companies offered roles like Manager - Supply Chain and Operations manager. Hope this helps.

P.S. Sorry for the delay.

If your teaching job was a full time job (and not while doing your masters)
Then there is no problem. else it will not be considered in your work-ex.

Hello Badri and Sabthagiri,

I have a question regarding proof for "Activities".

I was in charge of designing the Undergraduate Admissions software for my university in the US (which was a big deal since they picked just 2 out of over 500 applicants from Computer Science). What should I use to prove this activity of giving back to my univ using my CS skills. I can get an email or probably request a fax from the administrator there, will that be sufficient?

Also I was a math tutor to Undergraduate Math majors for a whole semester at my univ, I cant find any good way of proving this .

Also could you please advice how I can prove the fact that I got the J.N. Tata scholarship for further studies and Ratan Tata scholarship. In both cases I only received checks [1.5 Lakhs interest free loan and Rs 50,000 gift check respectively]. I know getting those was really hard as they are competitive and J.N Tata requires interviews before a panel of engineering professors.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Dev

Dev,

Go ahead and state the achievements, all that you have mentioned here. If they doubt it then alone will they ask for proofs. But that said u are at a bit of a disadvantage since the 3-5 achievements for which u attach the certificates along with your application , will add significant value to your application. Bigger these achievements the better it is for you

Hi,
Could someone tell me how is the job scenario in ISB compared to IIMs. Also, i have heard that it is easier(relatively) to get consulting or general management jobs in ISB as compared to IIMs. Is that true? Are the consulting jobs only meant for "Special someones" (the top few)? What positions do the consulting firms recruit ? Were there any recruitments in energy sector in 2008??

Hows ISB culture? rat race for grades, more mature and networking based ??

Hi All,
I have arnd 3 yrs of IT experience...and would b taking gmat in july.
I want to apply for ISB rt after that . I have 2 questions.
1) will ther be sufficient time to apply for ISB ...as the admission process starts in july?
2) Is it a gud idea to take help of admission consultants for writing application essays/SOP?
Besides...this is a very informative thread and a great way to connect with other ISB aspirants and ppl who have made it to ISB.

1. There is enuf time to apply for ISB cos the R1 deadlines are Sept 15th... But it is expected that you work hard on your essays and resume in this time
2. I would say its a bad idea. Cos from what i have read the whole idea why the AWA was introduced in GMAT was to cross check whether the english in the GMAT was close enuf to that in the essays so as to prevent ppl from taking professional help... But then you can write your essays and then get it reviewed by the professionals and tell them not to change the chunk and meat of the essay but to just suggest improvements...

But I would like the ISB-in-there ppl (BADRI) to take a shot at the second question here.. am I write or am I too conservative in my approach to essays ??

I dont think it should be a problem .... a few of my frnds targetting ISB this year are also taking the GMAT in July. Plus there is always R2 ... for which the deadline is somewhere in Nov I believe. So need not worry on this front.

Even I would like to know if most people use these Essay writing services. I dont like the idea but would like to know what the majority of people are doing.

Re: ISB 2009 Aspirants - 03-06-2008, 01:22 PM

Hi All,

Even before I could think of applying for ISB, I just went an looked at the ISB Blogs, oh my god.,..the way the students have written, you just feel elated just by reading the blogs and it has motivated me even more to get into this prestigious school(no no I am not writing an SOP here )

So here goes my profile:

Name: Kamal Kiran
Edu: B.com (hons) 72%
written CAT 3 times already(bad scores so no calls)
Work ex- 3 yrs now in a Re-Insurance sector(now this one has to give me an edge, if only I get the scores right).

My Question:
Is it too late for me to think of GMAT now, or may I still start and pull out a victory by the deadline for this years intake.

Regards
Kamal
