Lets see who reads the adcoms' mind correctly
Hi guys,

As you can see, this is my first post - I'm one of those selfish/lazy lurkers. Was interviewed on the 23rd in mumbai and my doc status (I know - dead topic, but I figured I might as well!) just got updated on the 15th on the ISB site. Never got an email.

Anyway, I'm betting the results will be out on Wed, the 19th. How much is in the pool currently?

Good luck everyone and thanks for your insightful comments!

Re: ISB 2009 Aspirants - 16-11-2008, 01:47 AM

First of all, a small message for simz. Thanks simz. I sent my marksheets to the adcom and they accepted them. Infact told me not to worry! Phew. What a relief. I am sure you would be able to imagine how much I would have panicked on suddenly being told that I didnt do what I should have done by the adcom just a few days before the decision making meeting !!

Great to read that long post from simz. Good going simz.

This forum is all about helping fellow and future admission hopefuls and should be used for that. I personally got to know the immense advantage of having a post like this when simz and seasons adivsed me what to do recently when I was told just recently by the ISB adcom that I should have submitted my marksheets long back (its a long story... but to cut it short... no one at ISB asked for my marksheets when I went for the interview and the interview panel also said that I dont need to give them when I explicitly asked them about it). So my advise to everyone (unsolicited advise is bugging, but please bear with me) is to contribute to this forum to help fellow/future applicants. Cricket scores, and computer configurations are fun things to discuss but can be annoying to someone reading the posts to find some important information.

Soemone (I think Achyu) said that the adcom would have met by now (Sunday) and then a few days for scholarships etc. SO no way can the final result date be monday. It can at the earlist be Wednesday which is the 19th, so I am betting 20th only.

Some of us would make it while some wont. Needless to say, its no big deal eeitherway. I have just undergone a cross cultural workshop at our office (as there are ppl from so many countries here) and it struck me so clearly that we in India are so focussed on univesity admissions/academics. Now please dont get me wrong. There is absolutely nothing wrong about that. Infact that is one of the reasons that Indians are so successful abroad. But it makes you wonder
1) Howcome we have the toughest levels of exams (IIT JEE, CAT, UPSC etc) and yet not the highest standards of living ?

Anyway, these are just aimless ramblings. The high point of my day here was attending a Gulam Ali concert !! That was followed by a night in the night club district here in Singapore (Clark Quay). Quite a cmbination huh - Gulam ALi + Night clubs. Nice way to unwind over the weekend.

All the best to everyone for this week and also for today (CAT) !!

Re: ISB 2009 Aspirants - 16-11-2008, 02:35 AM

I have a feeling that the first emails will start flowing (the first lot of acceptances i.e.) starting from Monday and will continue till Wednesday. No way they will have a complete list sent all together. As they will mull over the scholarships etc, and asking for missing docs etc for guys who are sureshots and whos marksheets are missing.

My guess, the strongest profiles start refreshing your emails starting Monday evening.

Re: ISB 2009 Aspirants - 16-11-2008, 02:49 AM

Hi ps1234, that's really a pleasant thought. Though I dont think ISB will send its acceptances (even rejections) over a span of multiple days. I think they appreciate the anxiety that this would cause. And plus, 560 (that's the number of seats this year right ? ) acceptances would hardly overload their email server ! And this being round 1, the number would be far lower than that.

So my bet is still on the 20th. I say they will send all results (acceptances+rejections) on the same day.

i dont know man... somebody came up with the theory of ISB surprising ppl by declaring results on 15th, earlier in this thread.. now that theory is rubbished.. 15th is over, no results..personally wanted to have it before 16th,so that i dont have to go and write CAT.. since i m writing CAT now anways , so next week any day is fine by me...

That's exactly why i am saying, ppl expected it at 15th and 20th was the talk of the town, so surprise could be 17th, but that's a personal opinion

Anyways, why you would wait for ISB result for writing CAT. Dude, if i were you i would keep all options open, rather than waiting for the Fat Lady to smile at me and give me the coveted ISB admission. You gotta keep all options open and give CAT as if that is your only option !!!
