Hi vivek,
There are two sections in the GMAT one is Maths and the other one is verbal.
Maths
1. Aptitude - You can first go thru the IMS Basic reference Material . If you have prepared already for cat I hope you need not to spend more time in Maths . Apart this you can start with OG 10/ 11. If you more tough problem then go for Kapalan material.
2. Data Sufficieny and Data Interpretation -- The same as said as above for aptitude
Coming to Verbal Section
1 Sentence Correction - Manhatten SC book is the wonderfu book to kick of your SC prepration . After this you can move to OG and Kaplan Material.
2 Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension --- OG 11/10 , Kaplan premier program, Kaplan 800
Material
1 - Official Guide 10/11-- You can down load from net
2. Kaplan premier program
3- Kaplan GMAT 800
4 - GMAT Power Prepration Software- Down load from net
5. Manhatten SC - down laod from net
6. SCore Top- Download from net.
IF you have any clarification let me know buddy.......I may not be able to check this website frequenty since i am tightly scheduled my activity in onsite . please help me out!!!! | The application work flow can be at the ISB site Admissions,Full Time Post Graduate Programme in Management - Indian School of Business (ISB) & <http://www.isb.edu/pgp/ApplicationProcess.Shtml>. You have not mentioned about your extra currs. So assuming a decent extra currs, I would say with 700+ in your GMAT and a strong application (Recos + Essays), you can offset your acads and work ex.

So unless someone with less workex has something EXCEPTIONAL to show in his/her profile, waiting for another year wud be the best option..
and for the dude here with IT background, i think that wud be a better option.. IT people most often than not tend to have similar profiles..

Hi Sudhir,
Your profile is quite similar to mine, except for the fact that I have over 7 years exp. I am already into CO 2009. You may go through my profile at http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/intern...dmits-150.html (ISB 2008 - Interviews and Admits)
or http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/intern...2009-a-12.html (ISB Class of 2008-2009!!!)
Looking at your profile, I feel you should consider following points:
1. What is purpose of doing MBA? If it is monetary benefit alone, then that may or may not happen post your MBA, if you are already employed with good corporate (read major brand).
2. If you are pretty clear that, you would use MBA for overall value addition, you have to decide what is the right time to do an MBA? This is because, right now (@ 4.2 years exp), you may qualify only for ISB. However, if you can wait for around 2 years, you would attain the benchmark WE of all the major MBA institute.
3. Consider other equally good alternatives too. I feel programs from IIMA - PGPX is equally good, IIMC - PGPEX is somewhere close. They have their own advantages like smaller batch size. If movement out of India is not an issue with you and you are financially very well-off, then consider 1 year programs like LBS - London, INSEAD - France & Singapore both, IMD - Switzerland, and 2 year ones like Harvard, Wharton, Stanford, Georgetown, Yale, Tuck etc. - All US. All these programs require 5 - 7 years of WE.
4. Plan well in advance for GMAT, and apply in 1st round. This gives you more time for searching sponsorships, scholarships etc. and in general for preparations to get into the school, pre-term etc. I made this mistake of applying to 2nd round, since I was waiting for IIMA-PGPX results. (I was more interested in IIMA-PGPX, though I got dinged there).
Hope this info helps.
Rgds,
PMK.

Sam | True, I too have seen people with GMAT scores of 780 getting a ding. But what I meant in my post (atleast what I intended) was that a 700+ GMAT score and a strong application is necessary at the very least to make the adcom stop and consider the application if one has only decent acads and lesser work ex. I agree that these by themselves might not get you a admit.
That said, I disagree that you need to have something exceptional to make it to the ISB if you were an IT guy. I think that if you are able to demonstrate a good potential for leadership, a clear career path (and how an MBA would suit here) and a good fit to the school, I see no reason for ISB to reject a person.
Crazy Diamond: I agree that waiting a year or two will add to your profile. But I am not going to advise either way because I believe, a lot of considerations (personal and otherwise) go into the when-to-do-an-MBA decision. I was giving you indicative targets which will give you a fair shot at ISB, if you were to apply next year.
ATB again.

I meant u need to have an exceptional profile if u have LESS workex (and not if u r from IT).. No offence towards my IT friends..
