As a starter, I am wondering if the application process starts in Jul, when would it be a good time to give the GMAT? And ideally how long before the test date do we need to book a seat for GMAT?
Thanks,

It is always good to have the GMAT score before the application opens, so that you can concentrate on writing essays rather than on GMAT, once the app starts. In that case try to give the GMAT before Jun/July.
Reg seats, it is recommended that you reserve the seat a month before. These months will be very busy in India. Many people will be trying to give their GMATs in these months.

Hi, evn count me in. I am planning to give my GMAT in june-july.
I would be having about 2.5 yrs exp by 2009.
A really good initiative..
I have a query . Do the people with 2-3 yrs exp find it difficult to get into ISB... What are the main criteria do the ISB ppl look at..

@ Kamnashish,
ISB looks at the following 6 selection criterias
1. GMAT score
2. Acads
3. Work Exp.
4. Essays ( part of the application)
5. Recos ( 2 no.s)
6. Interview
The relative weightage of these parameters is anybodys guess. But since there are 6 parameters of evaluation one can compensate weak area with others.
ISB Co09 do have students with 2-3 years work exp.

ATB to everyone.
PS: I may not have internet access all the time, so I might not get to answer all your questions immediately. I shall try my best to chip in every now and then.

Thanks Sabthagiri for your whole-hearted help and support to this thread.
Anybody pls clarify me one thing - what is the best time(say may be June or before) to give GMAT since for the academic year 2009-2010, the admission kickstarts in July 2008 and it takes atleast 3 weeks for the GMAT score to reach the ISB authorities?
Thanks

Ideally you take the test a couple of months (atleast) before the application deadline.
Two Reasons:
1. You have time to have one another go in case you feel that there is scope for improvement over the first attempt. (You can attempt the GMAT only once per month)
2. You dont have to parallely do your GMAT prep and application prep.
ATB.
