you can get the lots of study material using websites such as rapidshare and esnips. Also try to go through other threads which have lot more info regarding GMAT preparation.
Also please avoid using your e-mail id's in the posts as it is against the forum rules......

Hello Sabthagiri,

Good to see that u have taken the intiative to answer our questions. Thanks for that

I would like to share my profile here and ask you gew questions which may be useful to others also.

I am a Design Engineer (Automotive Sector) having work experience of 5 years by March 2009.

I am in UK from Sep 2006 and will be here till March 2009.

My GMAT - 690 V-36 Apt-47

Awa- 4/6

Now my questions:

How versatile is it being a Design Engineer (not IT) working for a Engineering Services Company ?

Since my GMAT is on lower side, what other factors do i need to concentrate so as to make my application strong?

If i apply in the very early rounds say by July15th (as the online application link is going to start from July), when will the result for the same would be known?

How is important is the GMAT score for getting shortlisted?

What is the avg exp for your batch and avg GMAT?

Hope to get all the answers

Cheers.

barkers,

here are the answers

1. I think your work ex is different and will definitely work to your advantage. However, you should be able to show progress and leadership.

2. try strengthening your co curricular activities, you can also retake the gmat. 690 isnt that bad, but m a little worried about the AWA.

3. check the respective website for that, it should be posted there.

4. all i can say about gmat is that a lower score wont necessarily keep you out, but a higher score wont necessarily get you in. the schools look for much more than gmat.

5. see the "Class profile" on the website. it should have all the details of avg work ex and avg gmat.

Hi Sabthagiri

Thnx a ton for helping the ISB 2009 aspirants. I would appreciate if you could give me few suggestions as well. To make my long profile short, I am a BE (Electronics & Telecom) with 7 yrs work exp.in IT Industry. I believe its never too late to upgrade yourself and thus planning to give GMAT this year.

While I am busy downloading the course material these days (OG, Kaplan, etc), I am little confused how to start and which one to pick first - Maths or Verbal. Seems like I will have to start Maths from scratch as I have been out of touch for yrs. Which is the best book you suggest for Maths. Since most of the folks around are suggesting to give the paper in Jun/July...guess we just have 2 months in hand.

Gunning for 700+ in 2 months - Is it doable or wud u suggest a crash-course from a coaching centre. Kindly suggest ??

rgds
Gaurav

Re: ISB 2009 Aspirants - 12-04-2008, 01:17 AM

this is my 1st post to this thread so let me start wth the usual stuff

my profile

25/f

xth-78%

inter-75.2%

engg-60%

work experirence-till date 1.5 years.will be 2.5 years by april 2009

not much of extra curr. and NGO stuff
my biggest negative is[not that the others are positive]-it took me 6.5 years to complete my engg.i was supposed to complete it in 2004 but with alot of backlogs i acompleted it in nov 2006.

i am planning to take GMAT in june/july.i am expecting 700+

with this kind of profile, even though i get a good GMAT ,do i stand a chance to even think abt ISB or am i expecting toooooooooo much.

even though i have a good GMAT i think my engg. will be a huge drawback.

please be frank in replying because if i know that ISB is not an option for me then i will drop GMAT[i am taking GMAT only for ISB ] and concentrate on CAT and try my luck at other institutes.

i wish to get some genuine answers.

another thing i don't seem to understand is does ISB make interviews twice a year.because i keep reading a people say that they have to submit the completed application by july.is it only in july or can u apply later also.

hope to get frank answers

thanks

Hi All,

I am also gunning for ISB class of '10.

6+ years of IT experience, BTech from IIT.

GMAT 700 - AWA 5/6.

I was just curious what percentage of total class they take from IT? It seems they r reducing the intake of IT guys and instead opting for other areas for the sake of diversity?

What they look for in the exp and reco as I will grade my self ZERO in extra caricular activites...

Thanks,
Mukesh
