I have acted in various plays till my 8th class on All India Radio and cleared an exam to be eligible to act in those plays too(i have the certificate for that) which was conducted by AIR only when i was in 6th class. Can this be added in extra curricular??...after that I was never actively involved in plays and this play thing happened to be a long time back
Yes you can. But I think there is a fair chance that you will be asked as to why you did not continue your histrionic foray.

Re: ISB 2009 Aspirants - 30-03-2008, 05:26 PM

Hey PGs!
I too am an aspirant for ISB 2009 batch.
My profile:
Current WorkEx: 4.5 years, currently working into consultancy group of an MNC. Been into research & dev for defence.
GMAT: Not taken the test so far. Planning to do so in June / July.

Well, I am not very sure if June / July will be the right time. I have not started with the preparation so far.
  1. Will June / July be the right time to appear for GMAT for class '09 for a guy like me who has not started yet?
  2. Also, what is the average time required (in months) to get a 700+ score?
Tell me what you guys think of it.

-Shail

@Shail

You have a good profile. You should take your GMAT when you feel you are best prepared for it. I would suggest July/Aug as a good time to take GMAT. that way you have time to work on R1 applications. The earlier you apply the better it is....

It really depends on every individual so as to how much time each requires. I prepared for 2 months and got a 710. So thats a question you will have to answer yourself.

I would say take a diagnostic test to see where you stand. Once you start preparing you will know better that how much preparation you need before you can get a 700+

I am in very nascent stages to start prepairing for GMAT, just making myself familiar of the requirments of this exam...

My profile looks like this.
I am working as Business Analyst with India's top IT Company.
My total work ex is around 4.25 yrs would complete 5 yrs by the time, 2009 class approaches.I have good experience of working at client side...

At this moment I wish to know what is the correct time for various actvities like appearing in GMAT, filling the forms for 2009 class, what are the certificate required etc.

However, my desire to do an MBA, especially one in Retail banking, with my exposure to a Core banking implementation in SBI led me to move to this Aussie bank to get more domain exposure. By April 2009 I would have 3yrs and 9 months of experience. Do you think other than a strong GMAT and essays, some more extra-curriculars outside of office are required?

Thanks again
Anish

hey Anish,

To answer ur question in simple B&W- Is some more extra curricular required- NO ( U wont get rejected for lack of extra stuff on ur CV)

HOWEVER: I wud suggest that if u have the time and the inclination, please do take up some extra curricular stuff.. The lack of it wont hamper ur case but the presence of it will defineitly help ur case...!! Anything that interests u- Dramatics, singing, anything.. and if I were u- I wud take up some social service.. nothing impresses admit com like a person with a social conscience.. and good work never hurt any society.. We can do with some social service

Hi Kane,

IMHO u have a very nice profile.. The only glitch I see is can u convince them y u need a MBA after a masters in Engineering..??? and that too from India..

People with Enng background might not find it too difficult to tell them y a PG in management.. But with a Masters in Engg, ull just find it a trifle more tuff to sell ur case.. If u can do that, u r well on ur way to the class of 2010..

But i only see it as a very small glitch.. If u r convinced about this, then go for it without any reservations in ur mind..

@rangarajanr5

This break should not have a negative impact as long as you are able to justify it.
