Expedite,
Don't you think AWA would be a better indicator of how a particular person writes/thinks and so I believe that the purpose of this 'on the spot' essay is something else.
Thanks

You have 15-20 minutes to write around 300 words in an A4 sheet.
I had asked a colleague (who is an ISB alumni) about this impromptu essay and he had mentioned that the idea behind this is probably to ensure that the essays you have submitted earlier-on were actually written by you. i.e. if my application essays were well modulated and grammatically perfect and my 'impromptu' essay is crappy, anyone reading the essays in a sequence can easily makeout that the original essays were not my work. [If you app essays were the churned out by one of the essay-editing services, you may need to ensure that your interview essay matches in style and diction]
This assessment is also an indicator of how fast the candidate can think on his/her feet and generate some ideas.
Don't worry too much about filling in all the available space in the given sheet, a couple of meaningful & well-written paragraphs are good enough.
Since the given word may have ambigous meanings, there is no right or wrong answer. For example, I could have related 'greenshoe' with elves and fairies and written some BS about it... whereas someone from a hardcore IB background would have written about 'over-allotment option' in an IPO, which is also referred to as a 'Greenshoe'.
Before going to the interview, note down your app ref number somewhere. You will have to enter it in the 15 min essay sheet.

Hi all...
I am looking to apply for ISB in the 2 nd cycle this year.
My profile

10th: 80%
12th: 97%
Engg: 72% (Computers) NIT
Current Job Profile: Oracle Consulting 2 years, total exp 2.5 years.
Worked with Heath Care, Higher-ed, and Finance Domains.
Extra Curricular: decent
what are my chances of getting an interview call if I apply, or should I consider giving GMAT again to improve my verbal.

Re: ISB 2009 Aspirants -

HI
I submitted my ISB application recently. Just now i realised that I made a stupid typo in the awards section. Instead of typing 884, i wrote 824 as my rank in a competition. What should I do now? Is ISB going to reject my application because of this small mistake, if and when I get a call?
Need help urgently!
Thank you

I spoke with one of the folkss just now (yepp now!) and I am highly impressed about this one..don't want to take any chances whatsoever..I think the mock session(s) from alums is just a necessity.
Do speak with them if you can..
What was the Delhi number at last count?!
|
Subra and Sheetal,
I spoke with the folks too earlier today and I think the mock-interview service is the ideal thing to go with (not sure if we have time for the full service)..an hour long mock interview on probable questions should do the much-needed mental make-up.
Do we wanna talk them collectively and get some kind of a bargain deal? Let's see if any more people are interested.
Let know folks!
K.
