Guys,

I was just wondering what to speak when the interviewer asks you whether you have applied in any other college? If you are honest and say "Yes" then don't you think you can be easily grilled on "Why ISB" question. I know one answer can be that the other school that I have applied to is for backup.
Any other pointers?

Thanks

Guys....any update on when are the shortlists expected? Would they be piecemeal or all-together?

Hello people. Quite a bit of heated talk happening over the weekend I suppose. From CVs to goal setting. But the guys in the adcom have been in the business for several years and they know how to sift good from the ordinary. In that case, it is the overall picture you present that will realy determine your case. Of course there can be exceptions and the 'X-factor!' and all needs to be there. But one thing that I am not convinced is that they lay any less emphasis on essays or other subjective information just because they are in India and we guys are known for our 'jugaad'. If they see even a hint of it, they will rip you apart for sure or quietly dismiss you to say the least.

Come on, you are talking about a b shool which was recently picked in the world's 20 best. And I just feel that if one were to use the 'juggadu' methods to get things done, they dont deserve to be at ISB or for that any other place of international repute. Of course this is a personal opinion. And without sounding all preachy (people who have read my posts are soon going to say that!) it think its basic ethics, i suppose?

totally agree with you on all the points.....

ethics is essential ... not only for admission in ISB ... but in general in life ...

NO JUGAAD .... Never... .....

I think the discussion in this forum is more on "packging and presenting" your appplication... a person may be bright and the best material for MBA but unless he/she presents it efficiently in front of adcoms, its of no use ....

Saying that "I've applied to XYZ school for backup" sounds risky to me... However, if you substantiate with reasoning, that might do the trick.

Cheers

but how does one ensure that all the applications are ethically parallel .. i mean there can be different grades of ethical applications.. for example some one may forge some certificates which is certainly not ethical .. where as some one may get a recommendation where the recommendor is a friend of the applicant.. and in some cases (i gues in many cases) the evaluator himself asks the applicant to write the essays for him and he just submits them online ..
dunno how will the adcom distinguish between such cases.. ?

Re: ISB 2009 Aspirants - 30-09-2008, 03:10 PM

hey guys....I am an ISB aspirant too...but giving CAT & XAT too. Let's see how I fare this year.

I have 2 years 3 months experience in Market Communications. I went through the material avaliable on GMAT in the market. I personally believe that the Official Guide to GMAT (11th edition) is the best of the lot.

What's your opinion???
