Now, the interview at Delhi starts as early as 13th of October and it ends in Hyderabad on 12th of November. I believe that ISB will not shortlist people based on their location. So, does this mean that they shortlist applicants upfront; however, they don't disclose whether the person got shortlisted before a week of interview date?
Thanks

It would make sense for them to DISCLOSE it by location, however that would leave folks with International interviews hanging with no result till almost the end of october.. they definitely don't SHORTLIST that way though, since you don't have any quotas by location per se and so you'd want to keep your entire applicant pool in mind when shortlisting candidates.. I do hope they just release the results in one go.. October 1st week. Maybe looking at last years threads and the cycle dates associated we might be able to understand if all results are out around the same time or not for all candidates regardless of location, of course that would give folks with interviews much later on a big time advantage.. (almost a month more perhaps?) ofcourse, that's assuming no one starts prep for interviews till they get shortlisted.. (ahem )
I just saw P_Jez's post about last year's stuff... so it looks like the whole shebang is coming out in october.. good luck all.. 2000 applicants, that should be a strong contest..

Hi all, I registered with Paagulguy yesterda night based on a friends reco...I am going through a very tough phase....went through the threads....very very knowledgeble guys here...so please allow me to ask a few questions;
1) i have applied to ISB in R1. i have mentioned some academic awards in the award section, but i have lost the certis,,will that be held against me?? I mean....won't marks obtained be sufficient verification??
2) More importantly, I lost my job (well officially I loose it on the last working day of this month but I have safely put my occupation as self employed)...was working with the equity research division of the firm that got bankrupt (no awards for guessing which firm)....tnks to the global credit crunch....Now the issue is I have got a couple of offers but they are all KPOs or very small research firms....joining them would be taking severe hit on brand equity factor on my resume (no offence to anyone if I am not framing the post diplomatically...I hope u understand the state of my mind)..moreover, I have to take a huge hit on my salary levels...what should I do...should I join or wait for a good offer....my fear is if it takes say a month...most likely looking at the conditions of the banks...what do I say in the interview what were u doing last two months etc etc, i.e. if I get shortlisted???Kindly help...
I am really worried..as I am applying to 5 more b schools in R1 in the US..and 3 more in R2. need to know how to modify my apps now????
Tnks.
My stats:
93% Xth; 91% XIIth; BE Electronics, reputed college, 77%, top 5 overall in branch; three years and three months work ex till date...one year with the back office of a leading global consulting firm as Associate consultant and two years with the current firm as equity research Associate; CFA-AIMR Cleared all three levels; GMAT:800;
Extracurricular activity: Significant NGO+leadership work in the profile; Sports - school + college branch team captain in Volley bal and basket ball; have been walking on the ramp for the last 5 years as a model almost alternate weekends..i.e. whenever time permits.
I am curently at home town...actually more a village... for the next two weeks as I just wanted to get away from everything....tk a break....and think fresh...
And all the best to everyone for the shortlists and interviews.....may the deserved get through

I don't think a layoff during such a bad time in the financial sector is considered to be a -ve on your application. Actually any layoff is not considered bad, unless you are unemployed during the boom years. Everyone can understand that. You could have actually said you were employed at the time of applying as technically you were still employed. What kinda position you want to accept and whether to take a pay-cut or not is your personal choice.
Regarding your application you seem to have a lot of extra-curricular activities. And your score/acads are excellent. I am assuming that your essays might be of the same level and that means you should not be worrying about an interview. Good luck to you man. Lot of people have gone through layoff's and I can understand your pain. But this is the time you will get to enjoy life after 3yrs of working. Just relax and have fun. Party hard. Good luck.

Are you kidding me? Perfect GMAT score? Where did you appear in GMAT? It cannot be in India.
Also, is there internet access in villages also now a days..or is datacard doing the trick?
Frankly, somehow I am not getting convinced about the entire sad story of your's dude!! Especially, with your credentials, I am not sure how you can even think that you would be considered accountable for the layoff..you don't seem that naive...

Actually that is not necessarily what happens when ur company files for bankruptcy. K-Mart filed for bankruptcy in 2002 and is still running. Federal Mogul filed for bankruptcy and successfully came 'out' of it. Chapter 11 has very specific measures (like keeping creditors at bay ) that are aimed at giving the distressed company some breathing space.
Anyway, that apart, if 1500 employees were re-trenched, I am not sure why you think each one of them would he held accountable for the i-bank's fate.

nice find... unusually coincidental :detective:
Also , i wonder whether a Q48 and V49 would fetch a 780 ?
A couple of splits I know of
q49 v50 - 780
q47 v50 - 770
I would think with a q-score below 49, u will have 7-8 mistakes at the least in quant only. While for a 780 u cant afford more than 5-6 mistakes overall. pure speculation
reminds me of the dude who had posted an 800 debrief with a Q52.
The MBA Saga continues...
GMAT 2008 - Q50 V47 - 780
Cat 2008 - 99.70%ile LKI calls.. Convert - IK
Cat 2006 - 99.79 %ile LI calls .. skipped GD/PI
Cat 2005 - 99.68 %ile LACKI calls .. no converts
