Hi Pranman,

Thanx for the earlier reply.. Some more questions

1.What would be the avg cost one has to budget for living /misc. expenses in London?
2.Are MBA's considered for Ibanking analyst jobs or Associate level jobs (say with no previous Finance Experience )?

Re: Neone for Cass Business School.. - 16-02-2008, 06:47 PM

Hello,

I have offers from Tanaka and CASS for the full-time MBA. I am into I.T( software engineer) for the past 3 years. Well, I am not sure which school better suits me. My major concern is my post-MBA career and return of investment.

I am not eying at a career-shift (i.e from my IT to banking etc) because I feel that career shift is difficult and I may not secure a better job. However, my reason for pursing an MBA is to change my work function (from hardcore coding to managerial jobs).

I know that CASS is very strong in finance and has great links with the banking world. I would be pleased to know about CASS' tie-ups with I.T firms and its concentration on strategy or IT consulting.

Pranman, I request you to throw some light on this as you are a current student. Others' insights are also welcome. At the moment, I feel Tanaka is better suited when I look at its concentrations on technology. However, I want to look more closely once I get some valuable insights on both the schools.

Thanks and regards,
Prashant

Thank you,
Hey there,

Dr Chris (Director) took my interview and it lasted for about 25 mins. The last 5 mins... he spoke about the school and stuff. So, basically the interview lasted for 20 mins.

The questions were straight forward and typical.

1. Why MBA?
2. Where do u wanna work after MBA and will u continue in IT?
3. What was the difference between the companies I worked for?
4. What i learnt from the companies - 3 things.
5. What I will advise my juniors when I quit my job and join the MBA

In my case, i clearly stated y i wanted to do an MBA and the interview kinda revolved around that.

He spoke of the exchange programs in South Africa, Poland, India and China.

In all, a cool interview with no hiccups.

Let me know your background and work ex....

That's it from here
Vicky

Dear All,

I would like to share my CASS interview experience in detail.

I called up Chris (Director of mba) at 9:00pm IST. After introduction, We exchanged greetings and he said that he was too tired. However, he started off by asking why MBA? My reason is quite strong and he inquired more and more on that. I could make out that he had my CV in front.

Then he explained how CASS MBA can help me pursue my goal.

My experience is quite low. Just 3 years in IT (TCS). So he asked what contribution I can make to the course and what people around me can learn from me.
I, indeed, made him convince that my 3 years of quality work will suffice:-)

Then he asked about challenges that IT industry faces in 10-15 years especially in the emerging economies such as India, China etc.

He also asked me about my learning while working with teams and what do I tell my sub-ordinates when I leave the company.

Then he asked about my extra curricular activities, football in england etc.

Surprisingly he didn't ask the standard question "why CASS". In fact, he
asked me about the other MBA schools that I am looking at. Then, I included "why CASS" answer in that.

He asked me to ask him questions if I have any. I asked him some questions related to the course, CASS' tie-ups with IT industry etc.

After this, he asked me about the different experiences I had working with different firms. Through out the interview, he was questioning the contribution that I can make to the pro gramme.

I asked him about the funding and scholarships also.

At the end he was happy to speak to me and said the he would look forward to see me at CASS in September.

The interview lasted for 43 min on my stop clock :-)

Overall, it's a nice experience .

regards,
Prashant

Hi there...

I have got an offer from CASS for the Master's in Investment Management program. I am trying to find out as much info as possible regarding the prospects of this program. Hopefully, ranked 41 in business week for MBA and more importantly located in London, employment scenario should be better.

Hey, my cousin has done the same Masters program from CASS, a year back and she is very very pleased with the university. I could find out about the employment scenario after that course and let you know.

Btw, could you tell me a little about your profile ? Since a friend of mine wants to apply for the same course, so i could get an idea abt wht are they looking for..

Thanks
