Thanks,
Hi eagle 007,

Are you applying for class entering 2008 or 2009?

GMAT score of 630 for an IT background is on the lower side. Normally the people from IT have the highest GMAT scores. If you would have been from pharma or manufacturing this would still be ok. However, you still have 9 years of work ex, this is quite substantial. All depends upon your profile now, if you can do justice to that you may still get a call, all depends on how have you written your essays and reflected upon your Extracurriculars.

Keep your fingers crossed. Please do not consider yourself out.

Wish you all the best.

What is the probable class size for the class coming in 2008. Since, IIM I is going for massive expansion, do you forsee increase in number of seats in this course as well.

Regards.

I think the strength of the class for the one entering in 2008 will be at 60. IIM I is going for rapid expansion but that is mostly translating into PGP seats. EXPGP itself saw increase in 25 seats from 35 in 2006 to 60 in 2007.

Thanks for this excellent post and making the world aware about this fabolous course.

I am one of the aspirants for this course. I took the CAT route. My CAT percentile is 97.94.

I have 7 years experience in IT & Telecom. Graduated from IIT Kanpur. My current organisation has encouraged me to go for this course and will also sponsor, if I get admission. I may not be looking at placements.I have decent acadcs, I somehow mismanaged my time in CAT so got a low score.

Let me know my chances for an interview call!!

Thank u in advance.

Difficult to answer as the interview calls are based on GMAT/CAT scores plus work ex plus academics plus extra curricular acitivites. However, there are few people in my class with this kind of score but there work ex is probably @ 20 years or more. So, keep your fingures crossed.
As far as HR is concerned, I can give you a list of courses which are available as Electives under HR. Its difficult to find out at this stage who will be specialisng in HR, but yes I know people who want to do HR or OB.
HR & OB Electives : Knowldege Management, Strategic HRM, Personnel Selection, Managerial Effectiveness, HR & OD Interventions, Negotiations Management, Compensation & Performance Management and Learning & Development. You can choose any six of them.
The above are the courses which are optional. However ,there are standard courses you do in OB and HRM which are compulsory for all.

All the best!

Hi,

A friend of mine is a re applicant for this course. He had applied last year through CAT but was not selected after the interview. This year he has applied through GMAT, his GMAT score is 700. Do you think, that will make any difference to his candidature? What are his chances for the interview? He has 6 years of experience in Software development.

Thanks

Rahul.

It does not make any difference. He will be simply treated as a fresh applicant. The board does not even know the CAT/GMAT score of the candidate ,what to say about whether one has applied earlier or otherwise.

His chances are quite bright for the interview. He has to really perform well in the interview as he belongs to the group where there is maximum competition ( 5-6 years exp + IT).

Hope this helps.
