Hi,
There are three basic questions that you need answers.
1. You want to remain in Delhi after your MBA.
2. You are sure that IMI will provide placements and IIM may not.
3. Whether you will be able to search job on your own in location of your choice.
Whether you join IIM or IMI you can always stay at your home. In case of IIM you may be required to travel to Indore for few days (10 days) after a gap of 20-25 days or so. But effectively you will stay at your place only i.e Delhi. See, as far as work ex is concerned, once you complete mandatory 5 years, where u work or u do not work that is upto u to decide. Which place u work all is in ur hands. As far as companies coming for placements at the campus are concerned they come from across the country. They very clearly mention the place of postings and other details. So its in ur hands whether u want to go for that interview or otherwise. I cannot tell you how many companies come from Delhi and for Delhi postings. I think this is a very trivial question. IIM attracts major organisations and most of them have offices in Delhi but whether u get what u want no one can tell you. I think the same will hold true for IMI. I really do not want to comment on that because I do not know anything about this institute, but if it attracts major corporations, then I am pretty sure they all will have pan India postings.
I have already mentioned in my earlier postings and also it is clearly mentioned in the brochure that official placements will be provided for batches passing out in 2009 onwards. So there should be not doubt on that part. All institutes right from the best to a small institute provide placement assistance. No one guarantees placement. It all depends upon how u perform in the class and how u perfrom at the interview.Their job is only to facilitate the company's visit to the campuses.
Last but not the least, IIM gives u a brand name, which only few can counter. There should be no doubt about finding a job on his own ,for any IIM alumni, should he want it that way. You can only realise the power and the respect that IIM name commands once you are part of the institute and the institute works very hard to maintain that.
You are very lucky that you have got final call inspite of the fact that u have just crossed 5 yrs work ex.Your range of work ex has maximum competition. There are many others who could not find a seat and others who are in the waitlist, inspite of the fact that they may have more experience etc etc..
So take a call and then decide..
Best wishes.
