Hi,

I have doubts in essay 3 for Krannert.
"In 250 words or less, describe a character-building event or situation in which your involvement made a significant difference".

I have googled for this essay's analysis but could not find anything. I'm confuses on what exactly is expected from this essay?

I feel one can use this essay as an ethics essay as well as a professional achievement one? What do u say guys? R1 applicants please throw some light on it.

Thanks.

Hi killer You are almost there when you say that ethics or a professional achievement can become good contents for this essay. But remember that , it might not be an achievement that shows ur character or involvement. You might have only helped a person or team to achieve their goals . Thats a great thing to write! If you still have any doubts , keep posting!

Hitesh, thanks for the reply. But I still have a lot of doubts

What do u mean by "But remember that , it might not be an achievement that shows ur character or involvement."?

It will be great if you or someone else can throw light on what:

1. character-building event is or can be?
2. situation in which your involvement made a significant difference can be? (i feel it can be a professional achievement where one demonstrated leadership and/or helped the organization substantially).

Killer, my friend !

yeah...i had a few sleepless nights about the darn essay & its 250 word limit.
My few cents:-

~ try not to think too complicated...its only 250, so dont pile in a lot of things which, does not make any sense
~ A simple incident in which you stood by your ethics/principles should suffice
~ It could be work related or non work e.g as simple as vacating a place of elderly in the bus

hope this helps

Thanks for the reply.

But I still have doubts whether a professional achievement where one has displayed leadership and has had an impact on the organization will fit in this essay. With reference to the 2nd part of the question: "situation in which your involvement made a significant difference."

It will be great if someone could throw light on it.

Hi Guys...From what I comprehend, it is more about ethical decision making or something that was significant. Any incident that you think was very special to you counts as a good answer. Not necessary that the reviewer believes that it was a life changing experience. Its more about what you "believe" and how you put that within 250 Words.
-->Heh, M I getting philosophical here?? Lolz

Hi everyone,

From where can I find more information on Krannert? I have been browsing there website and emailing the admissions office but could not extract much information. I'm specifically looking for resources at Krannert for entrepreneurship and technology consulting.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

@go_for_the_kill
I am a prospective applicant and have already submitted my app.
I do not have any contacts at Krannert, but do know they have a very good concentration(introduced last year) on Analytical consulting geared towards Tech consulting.
Also, the BurtonMorgan center for entreprenership does some commendable work.
Please do look up the websites for further details

cheers
