Here is how the SPJAT( Exam held by Sp jain on rolling basis) structure looks like.
90 Mins
simple question in following sections
Sentence Correction
Critical Reasoning
Data Sufficiency
Problem solving
Data Interpretation
General knowledge
Negative marking was there and this test is an Online test with each section being timed( as soon the time is over for that section , u will automatically be directed to the next section)
Further there were some questions on digramatic reasoning, such questions we get to see in Maharastra CET or Bank PO exams...!!
A score of 80%(SPJAT) and above is good( that will keep you competitive), Well i have seen people getting calls at 74%( SPJAT) as well but such people had a strong profile.
Now the exam is not a difficult one to crack , If one has prepared for exams like CAT, XAT , than SPJAT should be very easy.
However one must take care of Critical Reasoning( similar to GMAT pattern) and digramatic reasoning( can refer Mahrastra CET papers) sections.
SPJAT is usually held 2-3 times for each intake( for Jan intake it was held 3 times ) same might apply to June intake. SP JAIN APTITUDE TEST FEB 2ND 2008 UPDATE INFO!!!! This post is to answer all the queries and doubts that you may have regarding the SPJAT. 1. Firstly, it is a PAPER BASED test and not a computer based test as it was in the last intake. 2. The paper is divided into various sections which will be based on the areas that we test you on 3. Areas that we test you on would be broadly - Quantitative, Verbal, Logic, GK 4. The test is for ONE hour from 12 noon to 1 pm 5. Total marks - 100. There would be NEGATIVE MARKING and this would be taken into account while calculating your total score 6. There are NO SECTIONAL CUT OFFS - we expect your OVERALL SCORE to meet out cut off hope this has clarified your doubts. Thanks.
regards,
Anees..!

Hi Pushkar Alright i can make out the following from your Post. U have a good Percentile, U have a descent amount of exp which is good enough to fetch a call for GD/PI Ur acads and recos play an important part in the final selection. Well nothing is difficult if u have good enough knowledge about that field u r applying. So if u r in IT and want go for Finance, They expect u to have the following: i. Good enough reason to do so. ii. Knowledge & clarity about what exactly you looking for by changing your field. iii. Value add like certifications etc u have done to support your interest Leme give an example: Last year 2 of my frnds with IT background opted for Finance, One had 97% with 4 yrs wrk x ,working as a lead, second one with 94% with 2+ yrs workx. While second one was selected, the first one was not even though he had more % and more exp. The reason, well above 3 points that I have mentioned. From my experience i felt that Spjain is looking for those who exhibit the following: 1. Clarity of their goal( V.imp), how Spjain MBA will help the achieve that. 2. Communication skills. In clarity of gaol they expect u to know what kind of Job profile you will be looking at post MBA, what kind of Domain /Functional area would you like to work. Let me put it from IT point of view: What a S/w engineer can look at: Project Management: u don’t require an MBA for this , it’s a natural progression for any s/w engineer in 4-5 yrs. So forget it. Business development: Marketing side if IT, preferably an MBA in marketing would take u there. Here u can either work for Services companies selling their solutions or Product based companies selling their product’s. Business Analysis: MBA IT wil take u here. Here u will be a bridge between Tech side and the business side . Involved in proposals making, requirement analysis etc. Consulting (Technical/functional).. For technical u don’t need an MBA but for Functional consulting an MBA is desirable. Here u will be a problem solver, understand the issue and suggest a solution. For e.g. : A manufacturing company that wants to implement a ERP solution , u can consult that and suggest what ERP solution suits them .So if u chose to say that u interested in consulting than u will be expected to know the Job function in addition to the companies that specialize in that function.Hope this helps!! regards, Anees
