I believe that if you do not even try, you would not know if you would be successful. In this sense, you should definitely apply to INSEAD.
As for your workex, it is certainly on a lower side (3 years). You may want to work for 1 more year to strengthen your candidacy. Moreover the quality of workex is not related to being a techie or non-techie. As a techie, you can still have high quality workex. In terms of diversity of techie pool, I have seen a lot of techie non-Indians at INSEAD. So you can imagine that not all Techies are Indians.
Leadership is something that you can highlight in 2 ways - through the formal responsibility as a Manager or by taking initiatives in which you direct ppl to certain goal. I am sure if you cannot highlight your leadership through the formal responsibility, you can highlight it with some initiatives that you have taken.
Community service is not an essential aspect although most Indians tend to think the other way. Community service just adds another dimension into your personality and shows your achievements outside work. if you have any other things to share outside work, there would be certainly encouraged.

Thank you for your response insead.alum
I would appreciate your response on some more questions:
- I am quite keen on joining sooner rather than later, so would you say that a year lesser work ex (than what you previously advised - 4 years) would seriously undermine my chances of being accepted into the program?
I suppose it would depend on the maturity displayed in the essays, and if I am able to highlight that I have been benefited with significantly higher exposure than my peers, would that suffice in place of an extra year?
- I have been reading up quite a bit about Insead and found out that Indians are the largest demographic on campus. Is this correct?
I found this surprising... Because most Indians (and correct me if I'm wrong again) would be from a tech background right?
Something seems wrong here, but I'm not able to put my finger on it
- Lastly, and I realize the inherent vagueness of the question... Have you come across someone with a similar profile to mine at Insead?
The reason I ask is - Since application to any top b-school is a time consuming and expensive process, I'd like to gauge my realistic chances at a few select (and elite) b-schools.
This will allow me to set my expectations in accordance with what my profile can command. So, essentially I'm looking at optimizing my applications and resources before starting my application process.
Thank you for taking the time to answer these queries.
First hand advice from puys at places like Insead is invaluable - Your help is greatly appreciated.

Varun
p.s - 27 patents!! Wow... his (ex) employers loss and Insead's gain
